I.N.T.E.R.I.O.R. &. E.X.T.E.R.I.O.R. + There was always a 'but' when you considered previous Hyundai Coupes. The first one was undeniably pretty, but was let down by a rather nasty interior. Its successor, a butchered version of the original, was a prime example of how not to 'facelift' a car. However, it seems that Hyundai has learned from its past mistakes, as there's very little to criticise in this latest coupe. It looks fabulous, the American designed body being a pastiche of the best Italian sports cars, the interior too has been vastly improved with better quality materials and a neat design. E.N.G.I.N.E. &. T.R.A.N.S.M.I.S.S.I.O.N. + Three petrol engines power the coupe, a 1.6, 2.0 and a 2.7-litre V6. All offer good performance, but it's the V6 that's the choice, being smooth but also offering a raspy exhaust note to please the enthusiastic driver. The chassis does a good job too, not being so stiff as to ruin the compliant ride, and proving direct and responsive when asked to perform. Quite a package then; factor in the aggressive pricing and excellent specification, and there's little to match Hyundai's latest Coupe.
