| I was born on December 8th, 1973 in Greeley, Colorado, where I also grew up. At an early age, following the example of my older brother who was constantly sketching and writing comics, I also began to draw . To me it was just something we did, just another game we would play if we ran out of things to do. My brother never actually sat down with me and showed me how to draw any certain thing or person, in fact he never even told me to draw, but I must say, in retrospect, that he was my first drawing teacher, because, although he didnīt teach me how to draw, he taught me by his example to like drawing. Since we both liked drawing so much our Mom and Dad always had paper and pencils around the house for us to use. I continued drawing throughout my childhood and have done so pretty much all my life. This is basically how my interest in the visual arts began. Up until I was in middle school I really didnīt experiment any media other than drawing, of course since I was interested in art I began to take more art classes and experiment a little with painting. During high school I began to take my artwork more seriously, I still struggled some with trying to express my ideas with paint as easily as I did with just pencil. An internship I did with the Chicano muralist Leo Tanguma really boosted my interest in painting as well as learning more about my Mexican heritage. After high school, unsure of what I wanted to do, I took a few art classes at a sculpture academy and a few non-art classes at other schools. I became increasingly interested in learning Spanish and learning about Mexican culture. Being of Mexican descent and not knowing much about Mexico I decided to spend a few months there. After the first trip I couldnīt stay in the U.S. for more than a year without wanting to return to Mexico, eventually I decided I wanted to live there and enrolled in a new art school in Morelia, the capital of Michoacan, a state located on the southwestern coast of Mexico. I studied visual arts, specializing in printmaking and finished my studies 4 years ago. I currently live and work in Morelia, Michoacan, where I draw, paint, do printmaking and work in many different media. I feel my work is very imaginative, expressive and unique. I have decided to create this website to post my artwork and to promote myself as an artist.
