The Camaro
I found most of one of my brothers old Sizzlers cars among the remnants of my Hot Wheels cars. It was a blue Camaro Trans Am with stripes painted on it. The top had been crunched and the uprights around the windshield were broken. Most of the paint was worn or scratched pretty badly. The chassis looks to be fine and the motor works. The wheels are all there and look ok. So far I've restored the camaro to usable condition. I cleaned and checked the chassis, the contacts are all good.I had to straighten the front axle a little. I fixed the cracks in the windhield uprights with a drop of epoxy. They look pretty good and are actually more solid than they were when the car was new. I had to strip the paint because it was pretty worn and scratched but with the paint gone the car feels almost perfectly smooth and looks much better than it did. Now I just need a battery for it to run.
I would welcome suggestions on the best method to use in painting the body. This photo isn't my actual car...it's just here to represent it until I get a picture of mine.

The Track
I have aquired a "California 500" race set through ebay from some good folks in Iowa. It hasn't arrived yet but if the pictures are correct the set is nearly all there. It looks to be a little dirty and I don't see one of the pieces that goes to the lap counter. It also looks like there are only two straight track connectors. This was the track set my brother owned and I think some of the pieces are still at my moms house. Maybe the parts I need will turn up there.
UPDATE: The track has arrived. It's all there however there is a crack in one of the inner corner pieces. I think I can glue it and make it work but I'm hoping that one of these corner pieces will turn up at my moms house. Also the #2 indicator on the lap counter only rewinds to 2. If anyone can tell me how to take this thing apart to fix it I would be much appreciative if you dropped me an email with directions. Other than these two flaws the track is in great shape. It just needed to be cleaned and now it looks great.

One JL/PM Firebird

I've also aquired one working Firebird Trans Am. This is not an original Sizzlers car but the body is a design from that era so I figured it would look good in the collection. There are a couple more Johnny Lightning designs that I may buy for that same reason. This also has not yet arrived but the seller had a great rating and I'm sure it will be in excellent condition.
UPDATE: The Firebird has arrived and is , as I knew it would be , in excellent condition. It looks even cooler in person than the picture makes it look. Of course it would look even nicer if it had those trademark redline wheels that the Hot Wheels Sizzlers have.
Thanks Scott. I'll be watching your auctions on ebay for more of these J.L. Sizzlers in the future.
