TONIGHT ON THE PATIO
I fell in love with you again
seated there outside
tonight on your patio. I desire the fu fu fairy. Admire the woman.
Will forever stand behind the child. I love fairy, woman and child
and I am the better man for it.
I KNOW THIS WOMAN BARBARA
I know this woman Barbara --
and if I don’t say it now I never will:
I know this woman Barbara
who ignores my heart, my soul for the sake of her own.
I know this woman Barbara whom I love,
whom I adore, who for me is the door to all success.
I know this woman Barbara who surrounds herself with admirers.
I know this woman Barbara whose beauty tears my eyes, rips my memory, and savages my desires.
I know this woman Barbara for whom I have traded self-assurance for
promises of heaven....
