CHANCE ENCOUNTER
Walking up to Border’s Book Store just as you are just coming out wearing a long yellow dress with flowers.
A crocheted little pink half top over your shoulders, one button buttoned.
Startled to see me you mouth a little "O" as I absorb your reaction.
"I know you!" I say. And bending forward from the waist, you smile.
You had been doing research. Using the book store as a library,
as you often do, seated in the back bistro drinking tea and working.
I was there because I had nothing else to do and wasn't supposed to call you.
"Kismet" I say to your eyes. "Everything happens for a reason,"
I say, repeating you to you. And you consent to a return to Fuzio's.
Seated in the very back, White Zin and Absolut.
We commence.~~
