FAMILAR YOU

I called today and you weren’t home. And so I missed you.
Though not in that order. How good it is to hold you. You are so familiar.
As if we had known one another long ago, for a long time. And then parted.
I have lived alone successfully so long I am afraid I will let you pass without realizing the difference between loving you from afar or pressing you near until you are gone.
And then I will just drift away knowing I lost someone special, again. But accepting it philosophically.
