KORÇA

Introduction

All cities have need for knowledge. This is so in all places, especially in Albania, which was for a long time forgotten by the world and closed off, for half a century, by a macabre dictatorship; Albania was in the hands of an anti-national, genocidal clan.

Korca and its surroundings, like the rest of Albania, have undergone a period of terrible isolation.

Korca, as the rest of Albania, is part of the Balkan triangle and this small guide strives to open a window and shed some light on the small but important part of the world.

The story of Albania, which is one of the oldest on the continent, has been told faithfully and proudly by previous generations of Albanians; however, Albania has lost half of its original land as well as half of its people.

Therefore, it is a moral as well as intellectual duty to make a contribution in the manner of those who have preceded in telling the story of Albania with guides and journals like Nuci Naci, Lumo Skendo, Teki Selenica, etc.

We Albanians tell our story now not because we are obsessed with ourselves or with our history, but only as a defense and a manner of showing our pride.

With pride for our Korca, we Albanians offer this web-site to a better understanding of our land and our peope.
