Animal Testing

Many of the self-care products we buy are tested on animals. The biggest offender of animal testing is Proctor and Gamble. Unfortunately, they cover a large portion of the market: makeup, shampoos, toothpaste, etc. Please make an effort to avoid their items as much as possible, and participate in letter-writing drives to let Proctor and Gamble know of your actions.

"New 'Cruelty-Free Logo' Launched"

In December 1998 The Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC) unveiled the first internationally recognized logo to identify personal care and household products that have not been tested on animals. A coalition of US based animal protection organizations, including the HSUS, CCIC urges companies to develop and consumers to purchase products not tested on animals.

Companies can use the logo only if they adopt tough new standards that prohibit animal testing at all stages of product development.
