The Celts-Gaeilge lyrics

Hullo! I have taken the liberty of adding the translation for the Welsh Dan y Dw'r, though I certainly do not know the Welsh to translate and I can no longer determine who did the translating to give them credit. Just a note, the little apostraphes I have included in the text stand for accents, take them to mean that the letter in front of them is accented.

The Celts

Hi-ri, Hi-ro, Hi-ri
Hoireann is O, ha hi, ra ha, ra ho ra
Hoireann is O, ha hi, ra ha, ra ha ra
Hi-ri, Hi-ra, Hi-ri -------No english equivalent

Saol na saol,
Life of Life
Tu's go deireadh
Beginning to end
Ta' muid beo
We are alive
Go deo
Forever

Saol na saol,
Life of Life
Tu's go deireadh
Beginning to end
Ta' muid beo
We are alive
Go deo
Forever.

Hi-ri, Hi-ro, Hi-ri....

March of the Celts

Hi-ra-U-O -------no english equivalent
Beo go deo
Alive forever
(more later, my copy is too dog-eared to make this part out)
Hi-ri-U-O
Marbh go deo
Dead forever.

Deireadh an Tuath*

'Si' an ghealach,
It is the Moon,
Mall san oi'che
Late in the night
'Si' an ghrian
It is the Sun
Fa'n liom go deo
Stay with me forever

Hoireann is O Ho O Ho ro Ho

'Si' na Samhna
It is Halloween(1)
Tu's na Bliain U'r
It is the New Year
'Si' an crann marbh
It is the dead tree
Deireadh an tua
End of the tribe.(2)

Hoireann is O Ho O Ho ro Ho
Hoireann is O Ho O Ho ro Ho

*translated by Fidelma McGinn, w/ corrections by D. Quinlan & W. Arbuckle
(1)Samhna was a great Celtic Festival
(2)the translation of "tua" and "tuath" bother me.

Dan y Dw+r*

Dan y dw+r, tawelwch sydd
Beneath the waters, there is silence
Dan y dw+r, galwaf i
Beneath the waters, I call you
Nid yw'r sw+n gyda fi
There is no company with me

Dan y dw+r, tawelwch am byth Beneath the waters, silent forever
Dan y dw+r, galwaf i
Beneath the waters, I call you
Nid tw'y sw+n ddim fwy gyda fi
The sound is no longer with me.

*the "+" stands for the Welsh circumflex in internet converison.

Aldebaran

Codladh fada,
Long sleep,
Codladh domhain
Deep sleep
E'irigh! Amharc si'os
Arise! Look down
Aldebaran

Siu'il liom tri'd an re'alta dearg
Walk with me through the red star
Deireadh deireadh an turas
End, end of the journey
Re'alto'g, re'alto'g dearg
Small star, small red star.

St. Patrick*

Tabhair dom ghra'sa
Give me your love
Fi'ormhac De'
True Son of God
Tabhair dom do neartsa
Give me strength
An ghrian ghral gle'
The clear bright sun
