Backstreet Boys Intro

Introduction

The Backstreet Boys Story begins with their record producer, Lou Pearlman. He was on a search to discover a talent that he can help develop. Kevin Richardson was pursuing his dream of singing in Lexington, Kentucky, in his hometown, in 1992. He was performing with pop groups and singing cover songs. But soon Kevin got bored of that routine. He decided to move to Orlando, Florida, to to fulfill his next step in his dream. Kevin had a job in Disney World as a tour guide. He also appeared in parades as characters Aladdin and one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. But he didn't give up his dream as a singer. Kevin and a co-worker were on a break, talking about want they wanted to do the rest of their lives. Kevin announced he wanted to hook up with a singing group again and his friend suggested he was to meet "a trio of guys who harmonize all the time." The three harmonizers were A.J McLean and Howie Dorough, who were seniors in high school and Nick Carter, who was in junior high. They became friends and formed a singing group like Boyz II Men and Color Me Badd. When Kevin first heard their a cappella harmonies and saw their dance-floor maneuvers, he knew he found his dream team. A.J., Howie, and Nick welcomed Kevin enthusiastically, but they decided they need one more voice to finish their group. The boys went to several talent shows, held auditions, and tracked down leads all over Orlando. But they still haven't found the right voice to complement their sound, Kevin had a bright idea. He made a quick long-distance call back home to Lexington, Kentucky. It was early in the morning and a school day, but Kevin couldn't wait -- he just had to talk to his cousin, Brian Littrell. Kevin called Brian's school and had him pulled out of class! Kevin told Brian about the group he had joined and invited him to Orlando to check it out! The next day Brian went to the airport and took off for Orlando...and eventually superstardom!
