My Shirt Let Me Down
Topic: sports
For the first time this season, the Phillies lost despite my shirt. Since the playoffs began they won every time either I wore my Phillies shirt or Heather wore hers. Today, despite my 1993 World Series sweatshirt (it's cold here now!) they lost 7-2 in LA. Previously, they beat the Brewers 3-1 and 5-2 with the shirt, lost 4-1 to the Brewers without the shirt, then won again 6-2, then beat the Dodgers 3-2 and 8-5 with the shirt. Today, the power of the shirt is gone. Baseball is a game of superstitions, so tomorrow we'll try it without the shirt. If they lose again, I guess I'll have to look for a slumpbuster. In other news, my new website www.joshgoodin.com is semi-online! Check out who I'll be voting for (or in the case of Congress, just rooting for) and if you think I'm smart or something, go ahead and vote like me (unless you live somewhere else, like anywhere outside of Pierce County). Here's to hoping the Dodgers choke and turn blue!

Weird Wednesday Recap
Topic: paranormal

Monster Quest took us to Lake Champlaign, in search of the lake moster Champ. As little as 9,000 the lake was part of the Atlantic, so is Champ a leftover pleisiosaur? One witness says she saw 2 of them- walking. Newly discovered in the lake is a deep channel, deeper than any other part of the lake. Could Champ be hiding in there?

Ghost Hunters traveled to the Oak Alley Plantation in Louisiana, where "Interview With the Vampire" was filmed. It turns out the original owner may still be there. A door was seen opening just a bit. A flashlight turned itself on and off. Shadows were darting around the rooms, and the thermal camera picked up something on the balcony peeking in.

Campaign for Liberty Meetup
Topic: government issues
Wednesday night the family trucked up to Tukwilla for a meeting of like-minded individuals. We are all Ron Paul supporters and we were there to discuss the new Campaign for Liberty website. Every month there is a new goal for folks who sign up as precinct leaders, as I plan to do. I also met 3 candidates for Congress in Washington state, although I can't vote for any of them since I live in the 8th district and they are running in the 3rd, 6th, and 9th. All in all it was a great night and got me even more excited about my goals for the next few years.

Weird Wednesday Recap
Topic: paranormal

Weird Wednesday was delayed 2 hours by a political function. Arrival at home found TAPS already investigating a B&B in Florida. Lots of footsteps, plus there was a chair that had a cold spot sitting in it. The K2 meter traced an outline of a person, who didn't like being sat on. The next investigation was the hotel where the visiting team stays when they are in St. Petersburg playing the Tampa Bay Rays. After the team set up the cameras they went to their command center to check and make sure all the angles are right, and the closet door in Jason's room was open. They rewound the tape and saw the door open, then the ironing board fall out. Further inspection showed that the ironing board will cause the closet door to open, if someone is in the closet slamming the ironing board against the door. Overnight Jason woke up because he heard a voice, and the tapes picked up that voice, a man saying "Just leave here", followed by what sounds like a "Help me" a few minutes later.

More on the political function we attended later. Without my DSL these blogs may be sporadicfor the next few weeks.

Like Father, Like Son
Topic: Days of Jeff's Life
Natural selection- survival of the fittest- has been proven by DQ and his boy. According to Darwin's theory those with the most desirable genetic traits will survive and reproduce. Here's a classic example featuring DQ, who is NOT the fittest. DQ had his eye on one of the gals, then lost her to The Dude. Recently a new girl moved in, and I noticed over the last few weeks she's been hanging around DQ Minor a lot. I just started calling her his girlfriend, then discovered today that Dude Junior said she kissed him, and she's not DQ Minor's girlfriend anymore. Why settle for DQ Minor when someone better is available? I'm sure they're stewing at the Willow Tree Bed & Breakfast right now, plotting against them Grewing boys!

Mount Rainier
Topic: travel
Yesterday we took a little trip to Mount Rainier since the weather was so nice. It was my first time beyond Paradise to the other side of the mountain. We went to Ohanapecosh and saw 1000 year old trees at the Grove of the Patriarchs, an old growth forest like you won't find on the east coast. Dinner was at the National Park Inn. A camp robber (bird) tried eating my lunch at reflection lake. Overall, a great day!

My Amazing Life
Topic: random
In 30 years I've seen quite a few things. I've never seen a triple play or a leprechaun, but I've seen the sun rising over the Grand Canyon. I've seen endless prairies and mountains. I've stood in places previously occupied by Washington, Franklin, Lincoln, and other American heroes. I've seen eagles, bears, belugas, and dolphins all in THEIR territory. I've seen a seagull fly under me at a beach. I've been to the top of the Statue of Liberty and saw a view that our ancestors could only imagine as they steamed into New York. I've seen the room where America was born, and I've seen the killing fields at Gettysburg where tens of thousands of Americans died for what they believed in. I've stood where Spanish explorers came ashore on a mission of conquest and exploitation, and I've stood where we were told of one man's dream that exploitation would come to an end. I've seen the unexplainable in my home and in the sky, and I've seen mundane things we all take for granted. Thanks to everyone who showed me these things.

Weird Wednesday Recap
Topic: paranormal

Monster Quest was a search for China'sWildman, a yeti-like creature. Hair samples were analyzed and found to be dyed human hair. Camera traps snapped a few photos of a herd of goats.

Ghost HUnters devoted the entire hour to a single case- Buffalo's Grand Terminal train station, in use 1929-1979. A loud voice was heard yelling "Go home!" and the K2 meter netted a conversation with a woman waiting for someone to get off their train in the 1940's. Thermal imaging picked up the heat signature of someone walking in the hall, while the regular camera right next to it showed nothing.

just a boring Saturday

I'm blogging but I have nothing to blog about. It's raining and the few brave souls here at the camp are.... nowhere to be found. I'm the only one working, and I'm just sitting here in the office, waiting for folks to come in for a coffee or ho cho while I listen to my Civil War CD's and blog about how I'm blogging but I have nothing to blog about. Weird Wednesday Recap
Topic: paranormal

Leading off our Weird Wednesday was Monster Quest, featuring East Coast Bigfoot. A group called NESRA searches for Bigfeet in the NOrtheast. Last thing I want to meet is a Philly Sasquatch! The episode focused on sightings around Whitehall, NY.

Ghost Hunters was next, with Case #1 in Rhode Island again. They were at a banquet hall built in the 1760's. They heard footsteps (I did too) and a kid's voice. Watching the show, you could also hear it. It said something twice- the first was "Daddy are you there?", the second time it couldn't be understood.

Case #2 was at a home in Connecticut where something is scaring the kids. The team caught no evidence, but they did notice high electromagnetic fields, which can make you go wonky if you're sensitive enough. High EMF is like living under the powerlines but not quite that strong.

Then we watched Destination Truth. That team went to Java to the ghost caves. They heard some voices, and had some thermal hits, but it was hard to really prove anything because it's this big echoey chamber full of dripping water. But the locals have been afraid of it for years. They did record some voices, and oddly enough Java (in Indonesia) has English speaking ghosts.
