Can't Sleep
Topic: random
It's almost 1:30 and I'm still awake so I decided to blog. Haven't done it in about a year. I wonder if I'm still good at it. Not that anyone will read it.

My First Blog in 3 Months!
Topic: sports
Since I no longer have a job where interesting things happen, it seems like I have nothing to blog about. Alicia just finished her softball season an hour ago. Yet another tie- maybe someone should keep score next year. She went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs and an RBI. She hit .652 for the season with 24 RBIs and 15 runs scored. In other news, I just finished blogging on my other blog at my campaign site www.goodinforcongress.com and Sasha doesn't have any broken bones. Just a bad infection complete with abcess. She needs antibiotics and some pain pills and she'll be back on all four soon. At this exact moment, the Phillies are in LA, tied at 2 in the 10th, with 2 outs but the Dodgers have 2 on. Last night we left the Mariners game (2-1 Twins in 10) with a 3-2 Phillies lead. I turned on ESPN this morning only to find out they lost 4-3. What do you expect on the dreaded west coast road trip? Certainly not a 3 game sweep of the Padres, which is what we got earlier this week. On tap for tomorrow- taking Lucy out for the day to do some hiking if the weather holds out.

AIG raised my premiuim and I don't even use their insurance
Mood:  irritated
Topic: government issues
Yet another Failout! AIG is charging me 30 billion dollars because they lost over 61 billion last quarter. Rather than letting these schmucks go under the government is bailing them out yet again. Did it ever occur to these morons that maybe they lost 61 billion because no one wants to do business with them anymore?

I 1048
Topic: election news
My proposed ballot initiative has been assigned a name- I 1048. I was hoping it would be something a little more normal, like Tommy, but at least I have something to call it now. If you would like to help get the word out about I 1048 or sign the petition please let me know. Petitions should be arriving shortly and I need a quarter million signatures.

10 Years of Website!
Topic: random

You may or may not know, but I've had my website for 10 years now. That makes it the longest-running thing I've ever done. I used to have a weekly feature- the Five Worst List. So to celebrate the website's 10 year anniversary I'm offering...

The Five Best of the Five Worst:

Viagara Falls, from Five Worst Honeymoon Spots

Waking up in a cornfield in Iowa, from Five Worst Reasons I Don't Drink

Saturday the 14th, from Five Worst Movies Ever

Anything by Brittney Spears, from Five Worst Songs Ever

Grand Canyon National Park, Sponsored by Doug'd Excavating, from Five Worst Naming Rights

Here's to another 10 years!

Spring Might Be Around The Corner
Topic: random
Yesterday we had highs in the 50s with sun! To celebrate I got my head shaved and we hit the beach at Dash Point. Alicia was brave enough to put her feet in the water and spent most of her time throwing sticks in the Sound. We also visited the little 2-story lighthouse at Browns Point. It's a 1933 classic, meaning it's nowhere near as pleasing to the eye as, say, an 1857 lighthouse. It's a short, white box with a light on top. But still, it was a good day. On another note, Happy Birthday to George Washington wo turns 277 today. I'm sure he's rolling over in his grave.

Washington state ballot initiative
Topic: election news

I came up with this idea to open ballot access in Washington a few months ago but had to wait until recently when then filing period opened. The way it works now if you want to run office in Washington (like Congess) there's a filing fee of over $1000 and you have to win or place in the primary to be on the ballot in November. So I decided to change that. I want lower filing fees, and the primary winner from every party that holds one gets to go on the November election. Also, anyone who doesn't win the primary is not disqualified from running as an independent or third party. I need to gather a quarter million signatures when I get the paperwork back from Olympia just to get my proposal on the ballot in November. Hopefully it will pass, and I will have an easier time running the electoral gauntlet in 2010. Please contact me if you live in Washington and would like to help gather signatures.

Change We Can Believe In
Topic: government issues
Barack Obama's idea of change: bring in recycled Clinton staffers, keep Bush's Sec. of Defense, and "fix" the economy with more "experts" (AKA the guys who advised us into this mess in the first place). In keeping with Obama's other buzzword, I "hope" you all survive the next 4-8 years!

End of Wierd Wednesdays?
Topic: paranormal
Since we live beyond the Boonies we can't get cable and the satelite folks can't service us either. We have too many trees around us to get clear feeds from space. So we can't watch Ghost Hunters, UFO Hunters, Monster Quest, or anything else that's on TV. Also, I recently found out we're supposed to be evacuated. There's all sorts of flooding going on in western Washington and we're supposed to be flooded too, but so far we're still high and dry. If I wake up dead tomorrow morning I'll know why.
