End of Wierd Wednesdays?
Topic: paranormal
Since we live beyond the Boonies we can't get cable and the satelite folks can't service us either. We have too many trees around us to get clear feeds from space. So we can't watch Ghost Hunters, UFO Hunters, Monster Quest, or anything else that's on TV. Also, I recently found out we're supposed to be evacuated. There's all sorts of flooding going on in western Washington and we're supposed to be flooded too, but so far we're still high and dry. If I wake up dead tomorrow morning I'll know why.

Weird Wednesday Recap
Topic: paranormal

Monster Quest took us to Lake Champlaign, in search of the lake moster Champ. As little as 9,000 the lake was part of the Atlantic, so is Champ a leftover pleisiosaur? One witness says she saw 2 of them- walking. Newly discovered in the lake is a deep channel, deeper than any other part of the lake. Could Champ be hiding in there?

Ghost Hunters traveled to the Oak Alley Plantation in Louisiana, where "Interview With the Vampire" was filmed. It turns out the original owner may still be there. A door was seen opening just a bit. A flashlight turned itself on and off. Shadows were darting around the rooms, and the thermal camera picked up something on the balcony peeking in.

Weird Wednesday Recap
Topic: paranormal

Weird Wednesday was delayed 2 hours by a political function. Arrival at home found TAPS already investigating a B&B in Florida. Lots of footsteps, plus there was a chair that had a cold spot sitting in it. The K2 meter traced an outline of a person, who didn't like being sat on. The next investigation was the hotel where the visiting team stays when they are in St. Petersburg playing the Tampa Bay Rays. After the team set up the cameras they went to their command center to check and make sure all the angles are right, and the closet door in Jason's room was open. They rewound the tape and saw the door open, then the ironing board fall out. Further inspection showed that the ironing board will cause the closet door to open, if someone is in the closet slamming the ironing board against the door. Overnight Jason woke up because he heard a voice, and the tapes picked up that voice, a man saying "Just leave here", followed by what sounds like a "Help me" a few minutes later.

More on the political function we attended later. Without my DSL these blogs may be sporadicfor the next few weeks.

Weird Wednesday Recap
Topic: paranormal

Monster Quest was a search for China'sWildman, a yeti-like creature. Hair samples were analyzed and found to be dyed human hair. Camera traps snapped a few photos of a herd of goats.

Ghost HUnters devoted the entire hour to a single case- Buffalo's Grand Terminal train station, in use 1929-1979. A loud voice was heard yelling "Go home!" and the K2 meter netted a conversation with a woman waiting for someone to get off their train in the 1940's. Thermal imaging picked up the heat signature of someone walking in the hall, while the regular camera right next to it showed nothing.

Weird Wednesday Recap
Topic: paranormal

Leading off our Weird Wednesday was Monster Quest, featuring East Coast Bigfoot. A group called NESRA searches for Bigfeet in the NOrtheast. Last thing I want to meet is a Philly Sasquatch! The episode focused on sightings around Whitehall, NY.

Ghost Hunters was next, with Case #1 in Rhode Island again. They were at a banquet hall built in the 1760's. They heard footsteps (I did too) and a kid's voice. Watching the show, you could also hear it. It said something twice- the first was "Daddy are you there?", the second time it couldn't be understood.

Case #2 was at a home in Connecticut where something is scaring the kids. The team caught no evidence, but they did notice high electromagnetic fields, which can make you go wonky if you're sensitive enough. High EMF is like living under the powerlines but not quite that strong.

Then we watched Destination Truth. That team went to Java to the ghost caves. They heard some voices, and had some thermal hits, but it was hard to really prove anything because it's this big echoey chamber full of dripping water. But the locals have been afraid of it for years. They did record some voices, and oddly enough Java (in Indonesia) has English speaking ghosts.

Weird Wednesday Recap
Topic: paranormal

Monster Quest took a look at giant squids, and whether or not they could be the truth behind the myth of the Kraken.

Ghost Hunters Case #1 was local (for TAPS)- the Slater Mill in Rhode Island. They made contact with a 9 year old boy who worked at the mill by using a K2 meter, which lights up when magnetic fields are detected. The ghost was able to light up the meter for "Yes" when asked questions. Playing back the tapes at the end of the investigation revealed a biy shouting "Hello!" when they asked him to shout as loud as he could into their recorder.

Case #2 was an old inn that recently had a fire. They caught no evidence of a haunting, but they did uncover the truth behind the legends at the the building.

Your Weird Wednesday Recap
Topic: paranormal

Before I start, it seems like I get a lot of strange visitors at my door. In 2004 when Alicia was turning 3 we had a crayfish/crawfish/crawdad at our front door. Saturday night there was a bat sleeping on the front porch. Yesterday when I went to take out the trash there was a toad right in front of the porch.

Weird Wednesday started with Monster Quest. Our quest was the Thunderbirds. Native tribes have been seeing these giant birds which snatch people for thousands of years. In the 1970's there was a rash of thunderbird sightings in the Midwest. A 10 year old boy was picked up by one in 1977. There is one film of a thunderbird in flight. Is it a turkey vulture, as the experts claim? Are thunderbirds just regular birds, whose size can't be estimated because of distance and the human mind makes it appear larger? Is it an unknown species? Is it an unusually large example of a known bird?

Next on Ghost Hunters, TAPS traveled to the Iron Island Museum in Buffalo. The locked front door opened and closed while one of the investigaors was speaking to the camera. It is caught on film. There were footsteps in the attic. The voices caught on tape are some of the best ever. They all came from the attic or when they were investigating the attic. We have a man saying, "What do you want?", a woman's voice in what was described as sounding like Polish, and another man's voice saying, "Leave me alone." TAPS declared the building haunted.
