In the days when our militia was young, the fifes and drums were more than just a musical accompianment. They were a tool used during battle to signal to the troops above the blasts of gunfire. No matter how strong your commanders lungs were... you werent gonna hear him over all that racket. The fifes would tell you when it was time to wake up, go to sleep, eat lunch, form up, etc. And the drums, while marching, would keep your pace steady, and together.Nowadays, we dont really do much along those lines (although we could). We preform our music for the public to enjoy, and to teach everyone more about the history of the nation. We would love to teach you how to fife and drum with us.
