“Serena, this is Sailor business!” Luna chided. “The Negaverse has arranged a meeting with us! We’re having a face off with JEDITE!”
“But, Luna!” Serena protested. “I was just….” She fell silent as a bus pulled up to the sidewalk where they were walking. Rei felt a rush of excitement. She quickly shut it out. She was heading to a battle against Jedite; this was no time for strange feelings and hunches. But what WAS that vision about? And what was this sense of foreboding? She couldn’t allow herself to have feelings of any sort for the Enemy. She would just go and..and..kill him, like the plan. She shivered.
“So how are we going to eliminate him?” Ami asked, “Every time we’ve seen him so far he’s beaten us pretty easily.”
“Ami, as long as the galaxy has existed, good always has triumphed over evil.” Luna said gently. “As long as you have purity of heart and mind, you’ll defeat him.”
Rei frowned into the darkness.
SCCRREEECCHHH! The bus pulled to a halt.
“Now, girls!”
“Right!”
“MOON PRISM POWER, MAKE UP!”
“MERCURY POWER, MAKE UP!”
“MARS POWER, MAKE UP!”
They girls stepped out of the bus and were immediately confronted by some mud monsters, which were taken care of quite easily with Mercury’s intellect and Mars’ fire. Sailor Mars forced all of the doubts and fear out of her mind. I am the Senshi of Fire…my duty is to protect the Moon Princess. I don’t know what that vision was about…but my heart is here, with the Scouts, and will always be.
A voice behind them crumbled her resolve. “Hello, Sailor Scouts!” Jedite boomed “I see you decided to show up! Lightning blue bolts shot from his hands straight at them. “Say goodbye!” Sailor Mercury and Mars were competent enough to jump out of the way, but not so for the ditzy Sailor Moon. The blast hit her straight on and she tumbled though the darkness and landed with a thud several paces away.
“AAUUUGHGHH!” Serena wailed. “This is scary I don’t wanna fiiigghhht!!”
“Sailor Moon, stay strong!” Mercury called. “MERCURY BUBBLES BLAST!” A thick layer of fog enveloped the entire airport.
“Good thinking, Mercury! Now it’s my turn!” Serena cried. “MOON TIARA ACTION!” Her tiara shot away into the fog and was out of sight in seconds.
“Way to go meatball head!” Mars scolded. “Now we’ve lost Jedite AND your tiara!”
“Over here, Soldiers!” Jedite’s voice was magnified over the entire area. “Or maybe over here? Mwahahahaha!”
“How’s he do that?” Moon wailed. “And where’s my tiara?”
“Watch out, Sailors!” Mercury cried. “There’s something coming straight at us from the…east!”
“Which way is that?” Sailor Moon shrieked, turning west. A huge rumbling sound turned her around quickly enough. “WHHAAA, an AIRPLANE!” Mars, Mercury, and Moon all fled straight separate directions, but everywhere they turned there was another plane! Suddenly out of nowhere more blue lightning shot out at them, and the planes had them cornered.
“MARS FIRE…”
“NO, Sailor Mars!” Luna’s voice came to them from the side of the runway. “If you destroy a government aircraft, you’d spend the rest of your lives trying to pay back the debt!” Rei winced. How were they going to get out of this? A fine mess she’d gotten herself into. She was attracted to the man who was trying to kill them all! And it looked like he was succeeding! There was only one thing left to do. No more playing around. She pulled out an ofuda.
“Sun, Moon, Earth, Sky, Fire, Air, Water, Rock, Stars…AKURYO TAISAN!” Bullseye! Jedite fell from out of the sky above them and landed hard on the concrete.
“Nailed ya.” She smirked. That is, she smirked until his dark eyes met hers. They were so dark. Darker than night, she felt an eerie power coming from them…they were so dark…she could lose herself in the black pools…
Jedite winced with a start when he realized he had been staring at the Scout for some time. Which one was she, Sailor..Mars? He chuckled. No point in getting attached to the enemies. The Queen would never approve. But there was something about her, almost familier..like..an old friend…
“AUUGGGHHHH!" Sailor Moon's frantic wail broke the silence. "SAILOR MARS WHAT ARE YOU DOING THERE’S A PLANE PRACTICALLY ON TOP OF YOU! GET AWAY FROM HIM!"
Mercury and Moon had already away from the planes. Mars’ ofuda had reversed the power so that the planes were aimed at Jedite. Ami didn’t know how she did it, but Sailor Mars’ ofudas had saved their lives several times. But if Rei didn’t get out of there, she’d end up in the same boat as Jedite! The plane was almost there, only a few more feet….
“REI, RUN!” she screamed with all of her voice.
Sailor Moon blinked. Rei and Jedite were gone! Just like that! Where had they gone?
“REI!” Serena screamed. “REI!” She fell to the ground. This was all her fault! If she hadn’t have lost her tiara, then maybe she would have still been here! She sighed. Maybe not. Jedite had stopped her tiara before. “Ami, where did they go? How did that happen?”
“According to my computer, she’s gone to-“ Ami gasped. “She’s in another dimension! Jedite must have taken her to the Negaverse!” Serena nodded slowly.
“That makes sense.” Serena mused. “He must have tried to teleport away and ended up taking Rei with him!” Ami smiled.
“You’re smarter than people give you credit for, Serena.”
“Thanks, Ami.”
“I don’t have enough information to get us to the Negaverse. There’s no way for us to get to Rei.” She stared of into the starry night.
“Oh, Rei-chan.” Tears sparkled in her eyes. “Rei.”
