Pepsi Interview Disc

As you guys might already know, Hanson helped promote Pepsi by bringing out this interview disc. All you had to do was collect 18 special green ring pulls found on cans and bottles of pepsi, and send them in. Then Pepsi sent you this CD interview disc. This contains Man from Milwalkee *LIVE* and a 10 min interview by DJ, “Doctor Fox” of the Pepsi Chart, and 95.8 Capital FM. This offer was only avalible to those in the UK.

Here I have typed a transcript of the interview, if you want a cassette copy of the interview, or of any other UK interviews, then e-mail me with “Pepsi” in the subject. If you want any other kind of Hanson stuff from the UK, go to my trade section to see what is up for trade.

PEPSI INTERVIEW:

DJ = The DJ, “Doctor Fox”

I = Ike, T= Tay, Z = Zac

DJ -- With me, er, the delightlful, quiet, shy, retiring and very sophisticated brothers: Hanson!!

I + T + Z -- Hello!! , hey!!

DJ -- How has fame changed your life?

Z -- Well were basically the same people that we were before, we haven’t really changed, it’s more the way people look at us and the way people y’know....

T -- Precieve you, I mean really, a lot of things have changed, I mean we’ve gotten to see the world, we’ve gotten to preform for thousands and thousands of people now, and seen so many different things, so in that way, a lot of things have changed. But as people (Ike + Tay) we are the same people we always were.

DJ -- Who are your music influences??

T + I -- We are very influenced by 50’s and 60’s rock and roll, like Chuckberry, Johnny Taylor, Ottis Redding, Elvis (at this point Ike, Tay, & Zac are involved....) Beatles, the Beach Boys, y’know all that stuff... it’s just great music, and that was out strongest inspiration. It was really because when we went to South America for a year, we’ve got this tape from 1958, and that had songs like that. I -- There was no english radio so we were listening to 50’s rock and roll.

DJ -- Right, what were the main obsticles that you had to overcome to achieve sucess?

I -- Y’know we’ve been extremly lucky the sucess we’ve had (and the oppitunity -- adds Tay) at such a young age and because we did it for 6 years, and then you get signed and then the work starts, and people think that when you get the record contract it get’s easy, but actually it get’s harder... but there are so many people....

T -- So many other bands that have worked twice as long as we have all their lives and maybe never gotten this oppitunity, so we’re just really lucky to have been able to have the whole world get to hear the music.

DJ -- Yeah, do you find that people who are older don’t take you seriously, because you’re young guys??

T -- Well y’know obviously we are young, and there are a million musicans that are way better than we are...it’s just about we take our music very seriously, cos we love to make music, and we write our songs, and we play our songs, and we sing all the songs, and we are very strongly into the productions side of it too, so what we do is the real thing.

I -- And I can understand their scyptisisum I can understand why they would be reluctant and I guess you could say that you have to prove yourself to them, but the truth is the truth will shine through, I mean we really do do it.

DJ -- Are you gonna do a world tour?

I -- Oh yes definatly!

T -- That’s the one thing we are definatly looking forward too, not just the fun for us, but their are so many people are looking forward to going to a concert.. so we can’t wait!!

DJ -- Yeah, so how would you describe Pepsi

T -- Pepsi has always had a very cool (Z + T at the same time) image, I mean it’s always been with the times, it’s always been very forward moving, y’know now it’s Generation next, because pepsi has always been kinda hip, and into whatever is happening now. And moving forward to the future, and that’s what you always think of pepsi as.

DJ -- Now aside from making music what other interests and asperations do you have??

Z -- Well we all like to do the same kinda stuff, we all like to draw, we like to play soccer, which you guys call football.

T -- I mean we do a lota things, but music is the main focus, but, making movies, writing songs for other people, producing our own records, and maybe other peoples records, those are all things we would like to do in the future, and now, I think by far that music is the main focus

DJ -- Have you ever considered making a Hanson movie?

Z -- I think making music is the most important thing.

T -- Doing movies and things like that, could be really cool. We like to be involved in anything we do, I mean would have to be involved in all the script, and everything, so we need to find the time to make a good movie, y’know but things like that are just in the future...
