Adventures In Kinship with All Life
J. Allen Boone

To all the animals of the world...
to the child heart that cherishes them, and...
with a prayer that man's hardened heart will melt and
learn Kinship With All Life.
~~Bianca Leonardo

" Allen never tired of conveying his great but simple message: that man can achieve a relationship with all living things far beyond that usually accepted or expected. Allen cultivated a mental affinity with nature. He never looked down on animals as "lesser creatures"; rather he looked across at them as companions in the grand adventure of life. He had a cosmic sense which enabled him to soar above all man-made distinctions between humans and animals."

"Allen admired the American Indian and his ability to get along with any creature on earth. It was his belief that the mental atmosphere the Indian exudes is like an invisible handshake of goodwill toward other creatures."

"...the wildlife attacks white people, but seldom attacks the natives...the natives have a mental rapport with the animals. With those who know it and practice it, there is an interrelating oneness between the man and the creature."

"Most other animal books are objective. They tell about the training of the animal, about what man does toward or to the animal. But Allen wrote about the "law of reciprocation", meaning that the thoughts that emanate from man come back like a boomerang. He believed that animals are sensitive to the thoughts of humans about them. He was convinced that man must grasp the law of reciprocation before he can improve the world. The law is difficult for civilized man to grasp, but easily understood in primitive cultures. What goes out mentally and vocally, comes back to one and at one."

"All living creatures reflect the same Universal Intelligence and can communicate with each other when they make contact on the same level."

"His credo: Everything that lives...has something of value to share with you--whenever you are ready for the experience."

"...our hearts were echoing back and forth, in a mutuality of interest...of respect...of understanding...and of love. Through the revelation of direct experience I was being gently but effective shown that life, in all its aspects, is an inseparable togetherness. It is a perfect oneness in knowing...in being...in doing...and in sharing..."

"My need, as Just Joe and I began discovering each other, was mentally to penetrate his outer apperance and actions, then discover what it really was that was motivating him...and then try to blend my own total best with his total best in a mutuality of understanding."

"What I needed was to set my human intellect completely aside. Also my pride in species."

"It demanded many disciplines, such as a genuine willingness to be taught by [an animal]...the constant practice of humility and patience...flexible intuition..."

To be continued...
