My Interveiws with the COMET!

Recently I met up with two of the members of the Comet again, John Regan and Richie Scarlet, and this time I had the chance to sit down and do an interveiw with them for a cable show that I sometimes guest host and also for my web site. For those of you who do not get the show in your area I have posted my interveiws here for you to read.

Here are My Exclusive Interviews with comet members John Regan and Richie scarlet.

John Regan and myself- 4/26/98

Snowblind- Even though the Frehleys Comet has been broken up for several years, it seems that after ten years the comet are still going strong, 12 picks, Loaded Deck, Return of the Comet, The Frehley comet reissues,- what would you say that it is that keeps everybody listening after all this time?

John Regan- I think its the fact that Ace Frehley is such a great entertainer, and a great guitarist. Ace Frehley is the main reason it is still going strong.

Snowblind- I understand you did some producing on Return of the comet, what songs did you produce on the cd, and what was your favorite song from the entire cd?

John Regan- I produced 2 songs on Return of the Comet, they were the two Richie/comet in the studio tracks, and my favorite track on the cd..... , to be honest with you, is "speedin back to my baby". Cause they did a complete different take on that.

Snowblind- Has Ace heard Return of the Comet?

John Regan- I dont know, I have no idea...., I hope so.

Snowblind- Before the release of the first Frehleys comet album, the line up of the band included Richie Scarlet on guitars, why is it that he did not appear on any of the albums until "Trouble walkin"?

John Regan- Well the first line up was 1984-85, and basically we went our seperate ways cause we couldnt get a record deal together on time. We got back together in 86 to do the record, 87, and Im sure Richie was busy doing something, and basically, we went into the studio as a three peice band- Ace, Anton and Myself and thats kinda why Richie was'nt involved in that one, but he came back for "Trouble Walkin" and thats a great record, its probably my favorite record.

Snowblind- Do you see any future collaborations with you and any of the other Comet members any time soon?

John regan- Id like to, Id like to go back in the studio with Anton, and Richie, and Arthur Stead, and do it.

Snowblind- I understand you did some work on the Rolling Stones album "Dirty Work", what tunes did you do on that?

John Regan- I played Bass on a track called "Winning Ugly", the whole track, and I played a little bit on "One hit to the body" and that was just like a spectacular experience, those guys are like the best.

Snowblind- well thats all the questions I have for ya, thanks very much for your time.

John Regan- Your welcome.

Heres my interveiw with Richie Scarlet:

Paul Levasseur,of Snowblinds Kiss home pages and Richie Scarlet 4/26/98

Snowblind- When did you first know you wanted to be a musician? And when did you first meet up with Ace?

Richie Scarlet- uh, when did I first know I wanted to be a musician.... I dont know, I just started playin music at a real young age, My aunts always used to tell me "Richie you have a gift from God" they used to tell me.. My Irish Aunts(LOL). But anyway I was really young, I started on drums, um. I ran across Ace when I was doing my first album, and since then, and that was in 82/83 and since then Me and Ace have lived three life times together(LOL).

Snowblind- In 1984-85 you were in the Frehleys comet line up, why is it that you did not appear on the first Frehleys comet album, or any of the others until Trouble Walking?

Richie Scarlet- Because between 85 and 87, I went back to my own group the Seducers wich was based out of Philidelphia at the time, because I wanted to get out and play and there was a long wait before Ace got that deal. But we knew it was in the cards that we would get back, so, it just didnt work out in 87 but it worked out in 89 when I came back.

Snowblind- Can you tell us some of your musical influences?

Richie Scarlet- Lawrence Welk..(LOL) Well Jimi Hendrix was, probably is my biggest inspiration, and I like british Invasion stuff, The Stones, Yard Birds, Beatles, the early Who, all that british classic stuff.

Snowblind- I know the fans are behind you...

Richie scarlet-(Getting up from his chair and looking behind himself laughing) they are ? Where?

Snowblind- Could you tell the fans your plans for the future?

Richie Scarlet- I just wanna Rock man, thats it. God gave me somewhat of a gift and I just wanna run with it. Enjoy life. I just want to stay as creative as I possibly can. I wanna have fun, and when the fun Ceases to exist, well for me then thats it, I will hang it up.

Snowblind- Well thats it, thank you very much for your time, I really appreciate it.
