Another Day

Cocaine in the sugar shaker.
Daddy sleeps with sin.
The world is spinning off the edge,
Crumbling from within.

Housewives in pink foam curlers
Scan programs on T.V.
Bill Clinton's on his pulpit.
Corruption's all I see.

Sweat glistens on the forehead
Of a child in Gifford's shop.
Kathie Lee, in ruby high heel pumps
Won't let her profits drop.

Ron Popeil's pasta maker's
A price too good to be true.
He'd sell his mother for the dough--
No qualms 'bout screwing you.

A starling, black and ominous,
Steals bread from bluebird's beak.
As day slips to the dead of night,
The sun falls, tired and weak.
