The Banishment of Darkness

It was the dawn after a long, dark night.
The souls of two poets had merged to one.
Beaming through the window, the sun was bright.
Sparked by the night's passion, love had begun.

He was awake; he'd been watching her sleep
Since before the treetops were kissed with fire.
He watched her chest's rhythm, so slow and deep,
For peaceful she lied after passion's tire.

Her blue eyes opened; his were the same shade.
They stared into souls they'd molded last night.
Their passionate hunger would never fade;
Each knew in their heart that their love was right.
