the sidewalk is sprinkled with broken glass: a shattered bottle mosaic: a modern inkblot test in Budweiser brown and Ballentine green a cockroach crawls along a crack in the wall; sensing danger, it scurries behind a cardboard canvas, escaping the wrath of the flyswatter they serve creative cookies, soft dough rolled in pecans and powdered sugar, blueberry muffins with bakery-style brown sugar tops on the street's side, cars are being towed from the no-parking zone i laugh at the thought of stranded motorists and sip my café mocha. i parked in the alley.
