Photograph

In perfect pose, the couple stood,
Their hands and arms intertwined.
If this were love, then these two could
Have stood the test of time.
His hands rested on the waist
Of the one who he held dear.
His eyes proclaimed he'd like a taste
Of her sweet nectar...

So in love with him I was,
And I had thought his heart was true.
Now I know the horrid truth.
While with me, he'd longed for you.
When he kissed you did you think
That his lips were yours to touch?
Do you know that I exist
And that I love him oh so much?

Imprisoned in the frame of pine,
The photograph of he and I
Shadows the days when he was mine
Before my soul learned how to cry.
