Adonais
by Percy Bysshe Shelley

Peace, peace! He is not dead, he doth not sleep -
He has awakened from the dream of life -
'Tis we, who lost in stormy visions, keep
With phantoms an unprofitable strife,
And in mad trance, strike with our spirit's knife
Invulnerable nothings.- We decay
Like corpses in a charnel; fear and grief
Convulse us and consume us day by day,
And cold hopes swarm like worms within our living clay

The One remains, the many changes and pass;
Heaven's light forever shines, Earth's shawdows fly;
Life, like a dome of many-coloured glass,
Stains the white radiance of Eternity,
Until Death tramples it to fragments.- Die,
If thou wouldst be that which thou dost seek!

Poem read by Mick Jagger on the free concert at the Hyde Park to remember Brian Jones

When this you see, remember me
and bear me in your mind
Let all the world say what they may
Speak of me as you find.

Brian Jones

The trouble with a tie is that it dangles in the soup. It is also something extra on to which fans can hang when you are trying to get in and out of the theatre. We are really sorry for the industry but we won't change our ways.-

Mick Jagger

Every generation brings a fresh wave of ideas, and if this were to be stifled, society and culture would be doomed. Our children will be rebelling against us in twenty years time, in just the same way.

Brian Jones

You won't find any of the Stones going around praying, see us in church or reading the Bible. We're atheists and not ashamed to admit it. When you get to know us,we're pretty good guys at heart. People who to church just for the sake if it, to keep up appearances and smile at the vicar, are idiots. Those who go because they believe in God's faith, that's fine. We'll leave religion to the dedicated.

Keith Richards

The sound,face and mind of today is more relative to the hope of tomorrow and the realityof destruction than the blind who cannot see their children for fear and division. Something that grew and related five reflections of today's children.

The Rolling Stones

On Wednesday, 2 July 1969 at Cotchford Farm near Hartfield Brian Jones dies.

The crucial riff for "Jumpin Jack Flash" was written by Bill Wyman.

When the Stones started playing outside of London, Brian said "I'm the leader of the group and I'll think I'll stay at the best hotel. All the rest of you can stay in a cheaper hotel."
