Suggestions/comments/questions coming in from other clubs:
A) Would the letters be snail mail or e-mail?
Depends if all schools and kids have access to e-mail.
A Rotaract club in Tiajuana has said their students can not e-mail the letters, but one of their members has offered to bring the letters into the US. (They are 50 miles from our Club in San Diego) so for us we will exchange the letters via hand carrying Rotaractors, but for the clubs around the world, this one will need to be snail mail.
Do we as Rotarctors want to donate a portion of the postage budget to the school each year? Is this reasonable?
Comments on this point are appreciated.;)
B) What about a webpage/site that was an ongoing story, with schools/classes from around the world signing up to take a section. (Two paragraphs or so, no more than 200 words.) We would pick a theme/topic to start the essay and set ground rules. No profane language, text must be racially sensitive and keep the internationality of the audience and participants in mind etc.)
At the end we could send a copy of the Essay to the United Nations and let them see what Rotaract and the youth of the world are up to.
Comments and thoughts on this point are appreciated! ;)
C) "My Day In..." an essay. Perhaps we could have students in creative writing courses write stories about a day in a foreign country -- and write to a student in that country to find out about their daily life!
Comments and thoughts on this point are appreciated! ;)
D) Brazilians suggest language schools be involved as well as high schools! To make it easy, I'll paste from their e-mail:
However, we have to adequate this project to ours conditions here in Brazil.
We would like to suggest that instead of doing this with High Schools, we should try to work with some Language Schools (here in Brazil) , because most of Brazilians high schools doesn't teach foreign languages.
Schools of language would be easier to get interested, in our opinion.
DOES ANY CLUB HAVE MEANINGS TO EXCHANGE INFORMATION (BY E-MAIL, LEATHERS, POST CARDS ) WITH LANGUAGE SCHOOLS FROM BRAZIL?
There are some renowned language schools which owners belong to our circle of Rotaractors - so it might be an easy way to have collaboration.
Those clubs interested in this idea please respond my message explaining how this exchange could be arranged.(e-mail address, how many people would be available to keep contact with the schools here and how often it would be etc)
Comments or thoughts on this idea are appreciated! ;)
