We are having a special meeting dedicated solely to the high school project. Compiling a list of countries that have expressed interest, and putting together an effective way to present it to the local school system.

What's next? Folks from around the world are responding with great enthusiasm to the High Bridge to World Peace idea, and it's time we sat down and came up with a pitch to present to the high schools. Our fearless leader, Anna, has asked all the memebrs to be thinking about these things before the August 17 meeting, and the subsequent board meeting. (Date to be voted on at the August 17 meeting. :))
Also, our members are looking forward to attending the Presidential Dinner at the Zone Institute on Sept 2. (Many thanks to DGND Bill McDade for inviting the Rotaractors in our district to attend! TWENTY of us will be there!)
And finally, a speaker! Frank Goldsmith talking about local programs to help kids stay away from drugs.

We will be meeting with the Downtown Rotaract Club. August 17 will be the next meeting at which we tend to our club's business.
July 20, 1999
We've got all kinds of fun planned!
First order of business: the flyers we have for the club to try and entice new members have the wrong meeting place. We hope to have things to paste over the section of the flyer while we talk business during the meeting.
If you have ANY project ideas, please bring them to the meeting. I have been e-mailing with clubs around the world about the idea of getting our local high school in touch with other high schools, and several countries have expressed interest and are taking it to their clubs. I hope to have an idea of how much interest there is by the next meeting. (UK, Japan, Singapore, and Phillipines all sound very interested.)
We are also looking into getting school kids to make thinking of you cards to send to ships/servicemen and women who are part of the NATO forces.

We are going to pick up the pieces from the last meeting and run -- and continue with the technologically superior canadian overlord's professional development series on using computers at work and home.
June 15, 1999
The Technologically Superior Canadian Overlord, aka Steve, will begin his series of presentations on computers -- how we can use them at home, work, and in Rotaract.
Members will be writing letters to members of the Armed Forces surving in Operation Joint Force in the Kosovo Region. We will be writing to people serving on land as well as ships. The Red Cross provided the addresses and said letters like these are usually distributed to those with low morale. It has been suggested that we encourage them to write back to us about what needs we may be able to send things to help with both for the Kosovars and the men and women serving in the region. (Perhaps there is something they have noticed NOT arriving for the refugees, and perhaps there is something they themselves would like.
Click here for mailing addresses if members of your club would like to write to US Service Men and Women in the Kosovo Region.
We will also check signals on who as dropped off donation requests at what stores, and each person will volunteer to contact more stores before the next meeting.
What are the donation requests for????
Our club is putting together shoebox size
care packages for Kosovar Refugees
Looking forward to July!
The Technologically Superior Canadian Overlord, aka Steve, will continue his series on computers.
Steve and other members of our Rotarct Club will be working with Rotarians in the district at the zone institute in September to teach Rotarians about Rotary and the Internet. These sessions are designed to help Steve gear up for those presentations while helping our own members in their professional development. Topics he plans to cover include the quick and easy word processing functions to make reports look sharp fast, as well as some basic understanding of how web pages are designed etc. (Or so the webmasters understanding of his planned presenations goes. :) )
