WEAPON SYSTEMS
1. JET FIGHTER HIGH POWERED LASERS: The high-powered aerial combat lasers are still present on the Veritech, they can only be fired when in Jet and GERWALK modes and are limited to a straight ahead line of fire.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault
SECONDARY PURPOSE: Anti-missile
RANGE: 6,000ft
MEGA-DAMAGE: 1d4x10 for each twin blast.
RATE OF FIRE: Equal to pilots combinded attacks per melee.
PAYLOAD: Effectively unlimited.
2. HEAD MOUNTED LASERS: Slightly more powerful versions of the head lasers found on the original VF-1 Series.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault/Defense
SECONDARY PURPOSE: Cutting Tool
RANGE: 4,000ft
MEGA-DAMAGE: 1d6 M.D. per laser. VSF-1A series has one laser, VSF-1J and T series have two lasers, and VSF-1S series has four lasers. One extended blast lasts the entire melee round and does quadruple damage, but it cannot be used on fast moving or dodging targets.
RATE OF FIRE: Single or combinded blasts equal to the pilots combinded attacks per melee.
PAYLOAD: Effectively unlimited.
3. GUNPODS (select one):
B. GU-13 60mm GUN POD W/ANTI-ARMOR BAYONET: A gun pod similar to the old GU-11, this is the primary weapon of the VSF-1 Series. The new gun pod also features a mecha-sized bayonet mounted on the front of the weapon, for use in close combat with mechanized opponents.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault
SECONDARY PURPOSE: Anti-mecha
RANGE: 4000 feet (1200 m)
DAMAGE: Does 5D6 M.D. for a short burst, 1D6x10 M.D. for a long burst, or 2D6x10 M.D. for a full melee burst. Bayonet does 1D4x10 M.D. per strike.
RATE OF FIRE: Equal to the number of combined attacks of the pilot.
PAYLOAD: 400 rounds per clip equals 40 short bursts, 20 long bursts, or 10 full melee bursts. Additional ammo clips can be inserted, but exchanging clips requires 2 melee actions. One spare clip is stored in a leg compartment.
C. RG-XX 35mm RAILGUN: Originally, the smallest railguns were mounted on battleships (the strongest known being the 4 cannons aboard the SDF-1). However, during the VF-1X Protect, which was the first attempt at reducing the size of the VF-1 Series, they began experimenting in mecha-sized railgun technology. After working the glitches out of the GU-1X, the REF R&D was proud to introduce the RG-XX Railgun Unit. It is designed to fire the same caliber of ammunition as the GU-XX, however the hardware takes up a bulk of space, so despite the reduce ammunition size, the rifle still remains the same size as the GU-11 series, but general rate of fire is reduced due to energy demands.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Anti-armour
SECONDARY PURPOSE: Anti-mecha
RANGE: 6,000ft
MEGA-DAMAGE: One round does 5d6 M.D., and a short burst (3 rounds) does 2d4x10+10 M.D.
RATE OF FIRE: 4 single shots or 2 short bursts per melee.
PAYLOAD: 60 rounds stored in a railgun clip. Additional ammo clips can be inserted, but exchanging clips requires 2 melee actions. One spare clip is stored in a leg compartment.
D. RL-10 ROCKET GUNDPOD: Based off the RL Rocket Cannons used by the RDF Insurget Battlid and the VR-038LT Cyclone, this cannon is desired to fire plasma mini-missile (also known as rocket propelled grenades; RPGs) and deliver devestating volleys. Ideal for assault battleships and other heavily armoured targets.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Anti-armour
SECONDARY PURPOSE: Heavy Assault
RANGE: As per missile, generally 1 mile (1.6km)
MISSILE TYPE: Any grade of mini-missile, but plasma is standard issue.
MEGA-DAMAGE: Varies with type of missile.
RATE OF FIRE: Single shot or in volleys of 2 or 3.
PAYLOAD: Ammo drum holds a total of 30 plasma missiles, 45 armour piercing, or a mix of 60 fragmentation, high explosive, and smoke. Only fragmentation, high explosive, and smoke can be mixed. Extra drums cannot be carried.
E. E-12 PLASMA RIFLE: An enlarged version of the Spartas VHT's E-11 Plasma Rifle. This rapid fire energy weapon suffers a slight payload drawback as the energy capacitor can only keep up with so much.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault
SECONDARY PURPOSE: Defense
MEGA-DAMAGE: 1d6x10 M.D. per blast
RANGE: 3,000ft
RATE OF FIRE: Single shot or three round burst.
PAYLOAD: The capacitor can handle up to 30 shots (10 three round bursts) within a 1 minute (four melee) period. Severing the power cable (20 M.D.C, requires called shot at -2 to strike) will eliminate the rifles ability to recharge.
5. RMS-1 NUCLEAR CRUISE MISSILES: The standard wing-mounted missiles for Veritechs can be replaced with nuclear cruise missiles. Three missiles can be mounted on each wing, for a total of six per. The missiles are AI-guided, and have a bonus of +5 to strike, +4 to dodge, and two attacks per melee until it hits. The missiles will always strike the center (or main body) of their target.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Anti-Spacecraft
RANGE: 500 miles (804 km)
MISSILE SPEED: 670 mph (Mach 1)
M.D.C. OF MISSILE: 25
DAMAGE: 3D6x1,000 M.D. at ground zero. Reduce damage by a factor of 10 for every 2,500ft (750m) the object is away from ground zero. (i.e. 3D6x100 M.D. at 2,500ft distant, 3D6x10 M.D. at 5,000ft distant, etc.)
RATE OF FIRE: Volleys of 1-5 or All.
6. FAST PACKS: Fuel And Sensor Tactical (FAST) Packs are external fuel, weapons, and sensor modules designed to increase the performance capabilities of veritech fighters in missions with unusal requirements. The first FAST packs were developed in 2011 by the RDF to increase the performance of the original VF-1 in space. Additional customized packs were later manufactured for recon and training missions as the designers realized the flexibility that FAST packs provided veritech fighters. Today many different types of FAST packs are manufactured for RDF & REF fighters.
FAST packs are primarily used only in space, or in space-to-surface assaults. In an atmosphere the FAST packs generate extra drag on the fighter, resulting in decreased maneuverability. Because most FAST packs are explosive (due to the rocket fuel they contain), all packs are designed with blow-away capability, allowing them to be ejected from the veritech fighter within a second (1 melee action). In addition, the VF's onboard computer will automatically eject the FAST pack if it is damaged and in danger of exploding.
All FAST Packs provide the following bonuses and penalties when equipped unless otherwise noted in their individual
descriptions:
6. HAND TO HAND COMBAT: If necessary, the pilot of the VSF-1 Series can engage in melee combat rather than use a weapon. The Valkyrie is extremely agile and can execute most typical hand to hand combat moves, such as punches, jump kicks, leap attacks, rolling with impacts, etc.
STANDARD EQUIPMENT FOR THE VF-1X-PLUS:
AUTO-PILOT: The VSF-1 Series is equipped with a computerized auto-pilot, allowing the pilot to relax or even sleep during long voyages. The auto- pilot can be programmed with a single destination or a complex flight plan involving multiple speeds, directions, and destinations. The onboard computer will alert the pilot when the fighter is near its destination, and can also be set to automatically signal when sensors detect objects near the mecha. The auto-pilot was designed with long intra-system space journeys in mind.
COMBAT COMPUTER W/HUD DISPLAYS: The VSF-1 Series is equipped with a combat computer that can store and analyze data during combat with hostile forces. The entire cockpit canopy of the VSF-1 is a large HUD display, which allows the computer to display large amounts of data to the pilot and even highlight enemies and missile attacks with overlaid graphics. The combat computer tracks and identifies specific enemy targets, and has a database of over 10,000 images stored in memory. The computer can identify and track up to 200 targets simultaneously.
ESCAPE POD: The entire reinforced cockpit of the VSF-1 is a detachable escape pod that can be jettisoned when the mecha is destroyed. The ejected cockpit does not contain thrusters, but does contain a powerful locator beacon and an integrated life support system that can support the pilot for up to 24 hours after ejection. The pod is also equipped with parachutes in case of ejection in an atmosphere. The combat computer is programmed to automatically eject the escape pod if the mecha is destroyed (main body MDC reduced to 0), but this can be overridden if the pilot is feeling suicidal for some reason.
EXTERNAL AUDIO PICKUP: Range: 300 ft (91.5 m). A sound amplification system that can pick up normal conversation up to 300 feet away.
HEAT AND RADIATION SHIELDS: Special shielding prevents the penetration of life threatening heat and radiation. A radiation detection and alarm system are linked with the shields and will sound an alarm if there is a rupture in the shields and what the levels of radiation are.
HOMING SIGNAL: The escape pod of the VSF-1 is equipped with a homing device that enables rescue teams to locate a disabled craft or ejected life pod. The range of the signal is 400 miles (640 km). Most REF ships and mecha can locate and track homing signals, and the onboard computers will automatically notify their pilots if such a signal is detected.
LASER TARGETING SYSTEM: Range: 100 miles (160 km). Used for increased accuracy in the striking of enemy targets. +2 to strike in long range combat.
LOUDSPEAKER: A loudspeaker system is built into the craft, which can be used to amplify the pilot's voice up to 90 decibels.
MOTION DETECTOR & COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM: Sounds an alarm and warns the pilot of an impending collision and/or immediate target. Range: 500 ft (152.5 m).
OPTICS: INFRARED: Range: 2000 feet (610 m). This optical system projects a beam of infrared light that is invisible to the normal eye, but detectable by the mecha's sensors. The system allows the pilot to detect hidden/concealed objects by their IR reflectiveness. The beam will be visible to anyone with IR sensitive optics, however.
OPTICS: NIGHTVISION: Range: 2000 feet (610 m). A passive light image intensifier that emits no light of its own, but relies on ambient light which is electronically amplified to produce a visible picture.
OPTICS: THERMAL IMAGER: Range: 2000 feet (610 m). A passive optical heat sensor that detects infrared radiation projected by warm objects and converts that data into a false-color visible image. The system enables the pilot to see in the dark, in shadows, and through smoke, and also adds a +10% bonus to pilots using a tracking skill.
RADAR: 200 mile (321 km) range.
RADIO/VIDEO COMMUNICATION: Long range, directional communications system with satellite relay capabilities. Range: 600 miles (960 km) or can be boosted indefinitely via satellite relay.
SELF-DESTRUCT: To prevent capture of a variable fighter by the enemy, the pilot can activate the VSF-1's self-destruct system, which will cause the fighter to explode after a delay of up to 60 minutes (time is set by the pilot). The explosive damage is contained within a 20 foot (6 m) area and inflicts 1D6x10 M.D. to everything within the radius of the explosion. All internal systems are obliterated. The escape pod will be automatically ejected prior to the explosion unless the pilot overrides the ejection sequence.
SHOULDER SPOTLIGHTS: Can project regular white light or infrared light. Range: 300 ft (91.5 m)
STANDARD SURVIVAL KIT: All UN Spacy variable fighters come equipped with a portable survival kit. Inside the small reinforced box is a medium-sized flashlight, two hand flares, one rocket flare, a compass, infrared distancing binoculars, a small mirror, a pocket knife, dehydrated and concentrated food (can be stretched into a five day supply for one person) and basic first aid items (aspirin, bandages, disinfectants, etc.)
TACTICAL LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEM: The VSF-1's cockpit is pressurized, and also provides additional air feeds to the pilot's flight suit that provides him with pressurized breathing. The REF flight suit also contains an upper and lower g-suit that promotes blood circulation even during high-g turns, thus decreasing the possibility of pilot's blacking out in combat.
UTILITY ARMS: The right arm contains three retractable utility arms that can be used to perform delicate work and repairs. Each arm is 6 feet (2 m) long and has 5 MDC.
VIDEO SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM: A set of video cameras in the head of the Veritech record the surroundings and relay information back to the pilot in battloid mode. The information is automatically recorded for future review. The cameras have 360-degree rotation, 1,600 ft (488 m) max range, telescopic zoom x10 and a 30 ft field of vision.
