Musings

Ah, the draw of MMORPGs (Massive Multiplayer Role Play Games). Great graphics, magic, combat, people to talk to, then you throw in Final Fantasy, and suddenly you get a sellout. My mate Will and I both preordered it.
A few things about this game. You have your own character, you pay to play, you run around and kill things. But it's FUN. This is the first MMORPG I've played in, and I'm now a Level 10 Mithra Monk named Myskra. Will is a Level 11 Hume White Mage named Fable. We're on Valefor in Bastok, in case you're wondering. I don't know why the hell it's so fun to run around and kill innocent animals, but whatever, right?
A few pains in the ass thus far...
1) World Passes. You get stuck in a random server when you make a character, so World Passes let you hook up with a friend. But he has to get into the game first, earn about 1000 Gil (that's a lot, folks), buy the pass, then give you the information BEFORE you even create your character. Can you say annoying? Luckily now they have five uses per, but it's not that big of an improvement.
2) Incredibly Tough Monsters. See goblin. Avoid goblin. Start killing Mad Sheep. Goblin comes over and starts killing me. Without effort. ARGH!
3) Level Downs. You level up, you die shortly thereafter, so you level down. Ack.
In spite of this, it's an incredibly addicting game and currently is inhaling 90% of my free time. Things like fishing make great pasttimes too. A friend taking too long at the market? Whip out the fishing pole while you're standing around. You can even cook the fish.
I highly recommend the game, but EverCrack addicts should proceed with caution.
