The X-Files: The Final Episode

July 3rd 9:17pm FBI Headquarters

Mulder sat at his desk studying a picture. For the tenth time that day he looked at it from multiple angles. He sat on his head and changed positions constantly.

Scully sat at her desk looking at a folder with Ariel photographs of Area 51 and written descriptions.

“Mulder, why don’t you just turn the paper rather then moving around your desk like you belong in an insane asylum.” She returned to her work and glanced up again. “And another thing, you’ll never find out who ate your doughnut so move on.”

“Scully, I’ve got to keep searching. The truth is out there.” He turned around and returned to studying the “crime scene”.

She sighed and concentrated on the folder. Mulder muttered calculations and angles to himself.

“That’s it! I can’t take it anymore! I ate the doughnut! Do you hear me? I ate the stupid doughnut!”

“No Scully. It’s all a government cover-up. The…”

“Shut up! Shut up, shut up, shut up! You… you are the most annoying…” She was so angry she was choking on her own rage. “If you ever talk to me about something as idiotic as that again, I swear, I’ll kill you!”

“But…”

She whipped out her gun and aimed it at him. “Give me a reason. Any reason. Please, just give me a reason.”

A few minutes later Skinner decided to walk in. The scene he saw was Mulder duct taped to his chair with a rag in his mouth and a crazed Scully waving a gun around. It looked like some sort of dance. Good judgment caught him and Skinner silently closed the door and left. Any normal person would never think a rational person like Scully would ever shoot her co-worker. But he knew better. She had that crazy look in her eyes. He knew she would’ve killed him or at least wounded him had he given her a reason.

Scully danced around until her rage wore off. Then she thought she might as well let him live. He was, after all, a good partner. Or he was until he got this stupid idea that everything’s a conspiracy. She un-taped him and sat down at her desk. She saw the photo and picked it up. This, she decided, needed to be investigated.

July 5th 12:23pm Roswell, New Mexico, Area 51

She glanced at Mulder in the passenger seat beside her. He was making origami. Jeez, he’s annoying, she thought. She reached down to get her gun but decided against it. All she needed right now was an accusation of murder. There is another way. And it will reveal itself soon.

She stopped the car and got out. Mulder was still absorbed in his origami. She waited until he realized the car was stopped. Slowly he got out and leaned against the car.

“Why are we here, Scully?”

They were there because the layout of the buildings held a message. She knew just what that message was. The best part was that Mulder had no idea. She had a plan. O yes, Scully had a plan.

“I heard they have good ice-cream here.”

“Mm. I love ice cream. Are you sure it’s not a government cover up?”

“Yes, I’m sure.” She said in an irritated voice. “Moron.” She said under her breath.

They walked around and she took note of the shape and design of the buildings. They were round and each one was about 7 feet from the next one. They were brown and had no windows.

They walked until nightfall. Mulder was still looking for ice cream and Scully was constantly reassuring him that it was just around the corner. The stars came out and Scully waited patiently.

Soon a giant disc swooped down from the sky and landed right in front of them. Mulder screamed, “The truth is here. The truth is here! I can’t believe it, the truth is here!”

Scully took out her gun and Mulder did the same. They both aimed them at the ship. The door opened and three aliens stood in the doorway. Slowly they walked down the ramp.

We will take one of you. They said with their minds. You must come with us.

“Take him!” She screamed and pushed him forward. They came down and put him into a giant jar. He screamed and thrashed around. Scully pretended to try to help.

The struggle ended and soon Mulder was aboard the ship. As the others boarded the tallest one stayed on the ground.

Thanks man, we owe you. This one’s a great specimen. If there is anything I can do, just ask. Oh and here are those pictures of Clinton picking his nose and eating it. I wonder how he’ll explain his way out of this one.

“You’re welcome. I’ll let you know if you can do anything. For now getting him gone is enough.” Scully walked to the car and got in. she started the engine and drove away. She glanced over and saw his origami. She grabbed it, crumpled it up and threw it out the window. The wind carried the small white paper across the road and into the desert night.
