Jacqueline Frazier-Lyde steps into the ring for some unfinished business!

Jacqueline Frazier-Lyde is a successful trial lawyer and mother of three, who is not afraid to take the challenge of "getting it on" with Muhammad Ali's daughter, Laila Ali. When Frazier-Lyde heard that Laila Ali ( 3-0 ) was fighting, it was natural for her to put on the gloves and revived the classic rivalry that was between their two famous fathers. "Philadelphia is the capital of boxing, so I’m not going to make an embarrassment of myself or the city. If we step into the ring, I’ll whip her butt. Then I’ll pick her up, kiss her, take her to dinner and if she wants a rematch, I’ll dust her off and do it again." Said a confident Frazier-Lyde.

Frazier Lyde is getting plenty of help from her father, Smokin Joe Frazier!

Frazier-Lyde has been training since October, and is quickly learning the boxing game. She is looking extremely sharp in sparring and is hitting the heavy bag like her dad, Smokin Joe Frazier used to.

" We want to get some fights underneath our belt and get a little experience. But if I had one guy with the determination and willingness to learn like Jackie, I would have a champion." Said Joe Frazier.

So far Laila Ali is 3-0, she stands 5- foot 10 and weighs 168 pounds. Laila has quickness and youth ( Age 21) going for her, but is that enough to win against the hard punching Frazier-Lyde (1-0) who stands 5- foot 9 and weighs 180 pounds, but whose aged is 38.

" My father and brother Marvis are training me in the gym everyday and that’s to my advantage. Laila is younger than me, but I still don’t think that she can take me." Said Frazier-Lyde.

On January 12, Frazier-Lyde will get her boxing license officially, there will be a press conference at Joe Frazier Gym to make that announcement, that’s also the date of her fathers 56th birthday.

Frazier-Lyde first fight is scheduled on February 6, at the Scranton Cultural Center with a guaranteed purse of $25,000 the largest ever for a debut in women’s boxing.

On January 23, 2000, Joe Frazier's Gym gave a Press conference announcing that Jackie Frazier-Lyde was granted a boxing license by the Pennsyvania Boxing Commission and that Smokin Joe Frazier will be honored on his 56th birthday. Clink on the link and read all about it.
