Meridian Baptist Men
Eight men attended the Meridian Baptist Men’s breakfast meeting on Saturday morning December 14, 2002. We had a great breakfast consisting of eggs, French toast, bacon and sausage. This meeting was mostly an organization meeting in which we decided upon our leadership structure and a tentative list of activities that we would like to pursue.
We decided to adopt the following Mission Statement:
The Meridian Baptist Men (M.B. Men) serve the congregation as men of God connecting with other men of God and using our God given talents to strengthen each other, our church, our community, ourselves and people in need.
We also decided that we did not want a men’s group that was weighed down by a large governing body. We thought it best to just have a five-member leadership committee as our governing body. The leadership committee will be comprised of the Pastor and four men who are active in the men’s group. The leadership committee shall elect a president from amongst itself.
Some of the activities that we discussed are:
a) Valentines Day dinner out fellowship- We will make reservations at a local restaurant and take our wives and sweethearts out for a nice night out.
b) Mentoring Workshop – We have decided to accept Dave Cross’s offer to present a mentoring workshop.
c) Car Care Days – We will provide a free oil change, lube and auto safety check for single parents, elderly and others in need.
d) Mother’s Day Supper – The men’s group will attempt to cook a nice meal for the mother’s in the congregation.
e) Spaghetti Suppers – We had good success with our first Spaghetti Supper – Why not repeat a winner.
Due to many scheduling conflicts we have changed our Saturday breakfast meetings to the third Saturday of each month. Our next meeting will be held on January 18, 2003 from 8 to 10 am.
