Game #2 vs. Sut Indians

Game Two-Maybe They Aren’t as Good as We All Thought -----------------------------------------(John Hill pictured above)----------------------------------------- The Royals are not as good as they are supposed to be. At least not for now. On Saturday, the Royals were shut out by the Cleveland Indians, 6-0. Sut Steven Goodwin and some kid by the name of Day combined for a five-hitter against the Royals. Nate Ney took the loss, though he threw a complete game while giving up only four earned runs. That was four too many. The Royals found out what it’s like to play a team that doesn’t kick the ball all around the field on Saturday. The Indians made just about all of the routine plays plus a few spectacular ones. Like the backhand stop Corey Kimbrough made and then threw out Mullet Mulloy. Like the toasting of Noah Ney on a steal attempt by sut Larry Hall. Like the pickoff of Adam Webb be that kid named Day. The whole situation made the Royals shudder and made John Hill giggle to himself like he does. But all the credit for the Royals loss shouldn’t go to the Indians. The Royals made too many mistakes for that. The Royals made three outs on the basepaths and seemed to hit double play balls every time someone reached base. The Royals looked like a team that hadn’t played organized baseball in three years. There were, however, a few highlights. T. J. Kratofil had a great day at the plate. He was 2-2 with two singles, one of them as high as a kite off the wall. He also played mediocre defense at first base. Noah Ney made a great assist in center field against Johnny Howard by acting like he couldn’t find the ball on Howard’s base hit. Ryan Mulloy threw out a guy trying to move over to third on a single to right field. Adam Webb made a great play by picking up a slow roller that had somehow jumped under third basemen Toby Salinger’s glove. Jimmy Sevcheck made two good catches in the outfield and then hit a double down the right field line to lead off the top of the seventh. But there were just as many lowlights. Ryan Mulloy somehow failed to beat out a ball that Kinbrough backhanded and then tripped over first base. He also C-Beltraned a ball that hit the ground in front of the right field wall. Michael Stacy refused to listen to the Royals game while the rest of the team was in the field. Michael Comiskey refused to lay down any bunts after repeatedly getting the signal from Manager Clel Hall. After the game, Comiskey revealed that he thought Hall was giving him the fake bunt sign. It’s nothing to get to worked up about, though. The RBI league has a bunch of horrible teams, one of which they play next Wednesday. Ney figures to get another start as the Royals face they Texas Rangers.
