Footprints - 1955 to 1960

** There were NO Footprint ceremonies performed in 1955,
the first year since 1927
that nobody was imprinted in the forecourt at Grauman's.
This was due to the fact that "Mr. Footprint" - Jean Klossner
was nearing 90 years of age, and had out-lived Sid Grauman and almost
half the stars he had imoralized.
It was time to retire.

** Last photo of "Mr. Footprint", Jean Klossner with Mr. Art Baker after filming
the "You Asked For It T.V. show in 1955

"You Asked For It! - 1955

This pretty much says it all ....

KEEPING THE TRADITION ...
Since the Chinese theater owners no longer use Klossner family members for the footprint ceremonies,
we keep it going on our own...

Jim and Carol Burnet (1971)

Louie Nye and Jack Carter

By the way...the duck prints run up the left side staircase in the forecourt.
These were made by Sid Grauman's pet duck the day the stairs were poured!
Rather than do it all over, they decided to leave them there.

JWK's hand print as well as my Mother's footprint are located on each side of the
Right-hand poster frame as you stand in front of the theater

.....as for Charlie Chaplain's set of footprints?...well, they are still safe and sound
where they've been for over 50 years..in my Aunt's back yard in Eagle Rock, CA.

One more tease...Altho there are no two sets of prints the same size, shape or color,
one set is UPSIDE DOWN from all the rest..know who it is?

THIS SITE WAS MADE ON A MAC, with thanks to DIZDAV - 1999
