National Poison Control Week
Things you can do to reduce the risk of poisons:
  • store poisonous substances in original container with child-resistant caps
  • mark all poisons with "Mr. Yuk" or other poison stickers
  • store poisons out of reach in a locked or safety-latched cupboard.
  • store medicine in a cupboard the child cannot reach
  • Hang house plants: common poisonous plants are African violet, dieffenbachia, philodendron, poinsettia, and Swedish ivy
  • keep alcoholic beverages out of reach
  • keep syrup of ipecac on hand
  • post phone number of nearest poison control center
  • teach children not to chew on plants
  • teach children what the cross-bone or Mr. Yuk symbol means

Clothes
Move seasonal clothes to storage: wash, dry clean, polish shoes, mend, re sole, and brush in the sun. Store in airtight containers with moth repellent. Toss worn, out dated or stained clothing.
Organize closet: Measure clothing rod and compare to amount of clothing needed storing. Buy multiply hangers for pants and tops or plan to store less used clothing elsewhere.
Sort clothing and give away or toss clothes that don't fit, damaged beyond repair, don't flatter or out of style.
Move sweaters, jeans, and sweats to drawers if need more room.
Fold all clothing that goes into drawers and measure drawer space. Buy trunks, baskets, etc. to store the overflow.
Snip a swatch of fabric from an inside seams of clothes and store in a photo wallet for reference when making new purchases.
