PLOT

Edward Bloom is a man of imagination. The story begins with Will telling of his father's life. At first, Will loved to hear his father's stories, but as he grew older, he became bored with them and angry at his father's embellishments.

After not speaking for 3 years, Sandra convices Will and Josephine to come back home because Edward is dieing of cancer.

Since Edward is dying, Will is determined to tell the story of his life.

The story begins with Edward having massive growth spurt in church when he was a little boy, leaving him in bed for 3 years. After that, he decides to become his town's greatest athlete. When that is accomplished, a giant comes to town. Edward is given the task of getting Karl to leave. They become friend and Edward and him leave together.

There are two paths to get out of town, a paved one and a spooky forest one. Edward, out of curiousity, decides to take the spooky forest route. After getting lost, he encounter the town of Spectre. In the town of Spectre, nobody wears shoes. Jenny steals Edward's shoes are throws them over a clothing line they have stretched out at the entrance of their town. Edward meets Norther Winslow, a poet who has the "Roses are red, violets are blue" part of his poem, but can't figure out the rest. Deciding that the town is not for him, Edward leaves.

He finds Karl and together they embark on their journey. Their first stop is a circus, where Karl, because of his size, has become a main-star attraction. Edward first sees Sandra and falls in love with her. After much work, Edward finally finds out who she is and where she lives. He tells her he loves her and they get married.

The movies goes on to tell of Edward's other exploits, until the plot leads up to his death.
