PLOT
Within the first 5 minutes of the movie, we're introduced to Elle Woods. We understand automatically what she is like. Leader of her sorority, Delta Nu; she's blonde, perky and oh, so hilariously dumb. The movie begins with Elle being all smiles as she and her sorority friends go shopping. Why is Elle so happy? She think that Warner is going to propose to her.
Later on, at the restaurant that she and Warner go to, she's all pins and needles waiting for him to propose. He sure takes his sweet time stuttering, but then, instead of proposing, he breaks up with her! Elle is understandably upset at this.
Elle gets the brilliant idea that if she wants Warner back, she must get accepted in Harvard Law School with him and show him what a serious law-driven girl she is. With some creativity and luck, Elle ends up getting accepted.
Once she gets there, she is shunned for her dumb persona and bubbliness and colorful clothes. What's worse is that she finds out all her efforts are in vain. Warner is engaged to Vivian! Vivian is some bitch that got Elle thrown out of class.
Upset by this newfound information, Elle goes to get her nails done. There, she meets Paulette. Paulette is going through a divorce and her ex-husband is keeping her dog, Rufus. Paulette encourages Elle not to give up and to fight for Warner.
After a humiliating experience, thanks to Vivian, Elle decides that she will gain the respect she deserves and become a serious law student. She befriends Emmett at this point.
Atfter getting an intership with Professor Callahan, where she gets to work on a real case with him, she discovers that Warner and Vivian have also received the same internship and that they will all be working together.
Their case is to defend Brooke Taylor Windham who is accused of shooting her wealthy husband to death. Of course, we know that it can't really be Brooke, or else they wouldn't bother to introduce her into the movie.
When things are finally going Elle's way and people are beginning to take her seriously because she got a witnesses' testimony stricken from the record, Professor Callahan hits on her. Vivian happens to see the wrong thing at the wrong moment and thinks that Elle is sleeping with him. She confronts Elle with her new information. Elle feels like a total failure.
After getting some good advice, Elle returns. This time she is successful in putting the real killer behind bars.
