Sweet Dream Prologue Frodo opened his eyes. He had had the most amazing dream ever. He was leaning against a wall and he closed his eyes. He felt someone push against him and place a sweet kiss on his lips. But he couldn't see the face. But it was the most pleasant dream he'd ever had. And he could tell it was somebody he knew. Someone familiar. But who? He longed to know so that he could make this dream a reality Chapter One- The Description "Mr. Frodo, I really don' think I could-" "Nonsense Sam! Of course you can help me. And you will. I need to know who it was." Sam wondered if Frodo was drunk. "No, Sam, I'm not drunk." Frodo smirked. "How'd you-" Sam stammered. "Oh, Sam! I know you so well. When you get suspicious of me, you get the same look on your face." "Okay- you're drunk!" Sam laughed. "No, Sam, just in love." Frodo sighed. "Mr. Frodo, be reasonable, you don't even know who it is." "But Sam, it was the best moment of my life. I know I am in love with this person." "Frodo, what if it's someone big and ugly like Hana Sandyman?" "It's not, Sam. It's someone dear to me. Somebody I'm close to, I just can't put my finger on it. Now will you help me?" "Okay…close your eyes and put yourself in the dream," Frodo closed his eyes. "What can you smell, Frodo?" Sam asked. "Mmm…lavender- not strong-but nice. And smoke- but not pipeweed smoke…" Sam tried to think of who wore lavender. "What can you hear?" Sam continued. "There's laughter. Don't know where it's coming from. But its far away," Frodo got a puzzled look on his face. "Hmm…what do you feel?" Sam asked. "Physically or emotionally?" "Both." "Physically I feel them pushing me against the wall. They are putting quite a lot of pressure on me. Emotionally…its like nothing I've ever felt before." Frodo sighed. "Okay…what do you (dare I say) taste?" Sam asked reluctantly. Frodo's face grew a puzzled look. "Its…sweet. But it tastes like they've been drinking ale." Sam raised his eyebrow. "What can you see?" "Sam, I already told you, my eyes were closed." Frodo replied as he opened his eyes. Sam looked confused. "Well…?" Frodo asked. "What girl smells like lavender, drinks ale and hangs around smoke?" Sam asked. Frodo shrugged. Sam was lost. Frodo was never usually like this. "Frodo? What's going on? You've been kissed by lasses lots of times. Why does this one have you so excited?" Sam asked. "It is someone I've never kissed before. It's wonderful. I know I love them." Frodo lit up. Sam enjoyed the excitement Frodo had in him. Sam had decided he liked when Frodo was in love. It brought out the Brandybuck in him. He was so giddy and cheery. "Well, you can find out tonight." Sam replied. "Why? What's tonight?" Frodo asked. "Tanta Tussle's birthday party." Sam answered. Frodo lit up. He couldn't wait until tonight. Chapter Two- Lavender "Sam! Look at all the girls here!" Frodo said excitedly. Sam rolled his eyes. He sounded worse then the boy-crazy girls. The reached the gate where Tanta was. "Happy Birthday!" The two greeted her. "Thankee!" She replied as she handed them little boxes. "Everyone tonight is getting a nice smelling oil. I made them myself!" She gave Frodo a tall blue box and Sam a short green one. They both said thank you and then Frodo looked at Sam. "Oh! There's Pippin!" Frodo said eagerly and ran over to Pippin. Sam stayed behind. He chuckled. He decided to see what oil he had got. He opened the box to find a round little glass filled with oils. He noticed there was a crack in the side. He hoped it wouldn't leak. He opened the lid and inhaled. It smelled so good. Hana Sandyman walked up to Sam. "What scent'd you get?" she asked. "Lavender." Sam grinned. Chapter Three- The Bonfire Sam went and joined Frodo at a table with Pippin. He hid the bottle in his front pocket. "Here, Sam. We got you an ale." Pippin said as he slid a mug towards Sam. Sam nodded in thanks and took a big gulp. "Sam, I went around and asked the girls and found out that four of them got lavender oils. You know lavender. Like in my dream." Frodo grinned. "I asked Tanta how many lavender's she gave out and she said five. So there's one more girl out there with my scent!" Sam almost spat out his ale. "Lavender?" he asked. "Yes, Sam, you remember?" Frodo asked. Sam nodded slowly. "I wonder who she is…Number five?" Frodo thought out loud. Sam couldn't help but smile. He sipped his ale to hide his grin. "Who's the other four?" Pippin asked. "Ada Banks, Belle Proudfoot, Amber Willowbottom, and Pearl." "My sister?" Pippin choked. "Yea, so I narrowed it down to those three girls." Frodo grinned. "Good thing." Pippin said, relieved. Tanta stood up on a table and announced to everyone, "I set up a huge bonfire, so if you will all join me there for stories and songs!" Everyone cheered and followed her about 300 yards away from the house to the bonfire. They sat in a giant circle and laughed and sang and were merry. At one point Frodo leaned over to Sam and whispered, "Ada is the only one drinking ale. Belle and Amber aren't." "So?" Sam whispered. "My dream!" Frodo replied. Sam nodded. Sam went back to singing, but Frodo just stared at Ada the entire time. Chapter Four- The Kiss Ada got up from the circle. Frodo froze like a hunting dog who caught onto the scent. "Let's follow her, Sam." Frodo whispered. Sam gulped his ale to finish it off and ran after Frodo who was slowly following Ada. She was walked into Tanta's house. Frodo stopped. "Let's go hide under the window and peek through." Frodo suggested. Sam sighed and followed him. They crouched under the window. Frodo turned around and peeked through. Frodo was so excited over this, Sam couldn't help but be happy for him. But he was somewhat saddened by the thought of Frodo in love with a lass. Frodo turned around and crouched back under the window. Sam felt a strange urge and knew what he had to do. He pushed Frodo against the wall. He leaned in and placed a kiss on Frodo's lips. When Frodo didn't push away, Sam slipped his tongue in Frodo's mouth. They sat there under the window kissing for what felt like an eternity. But it felt good. Frodo closed his eyes. He could feel Sam pushing against him. He could taste Sam's sweetness and the ale he had been drinking. He could smell smoke from the bonfire and sweet lavender. He could hear the laughter of the party far away. But this time he could see. He could see it. It was Sam. Then finally Sam got off Frodo. They both sat there wondering what had happened. "I love you, Frodo." Sam replied quietly. "I love you too, Sam. I always have. I just couldn't see…" Frodo grinned. "And you had everything that was in my dream. I'm glad it came true. It was such a sweet dream." Frodo sighed. They were silent. They just stared at each other with love in their eyes. "One thing, Sam…" Frodo broke the silence. "Yes, Frodo?" Sam asked. "Why do you smell like lavender?" Sam looked down at his pocket to see that the oil had leaked onto his vest. "Number five…" Sam grinned, "It leaked." "Sam! Why didn't you tell me you had lavender?" Frodo asked. "I always loved you, Frodo, and I knew it, but I didn't think you did. And I figured the lavender didn't mean anything. And that you'd never love me back. I thought it was just a sweet dream." "Oh, Sam…" Frodo replied and he flung himself on Sam. And that was the end of a sweet dream and the beginning of a beautiful reality.
