U.S. Federal Route 30 runs east-west across Central Marshall County. Around the southside of Marshalltown, this is a controlled access expressway. As of April, 2004, IADOT was in the process of expanding the highway with at-grade intersections to Le Grand. At Marshalltown this has a spur through town. It follows the old path of U.S. Rt. 30.
