Interstate 88 is a east-west highway in Illinois. Running from Hillside, IL to Rock Island, IL, I-88 connects Chicago to Iowa. Most of I-88 is operated and maintained by the Illinois Toll Highway Athority.
On June 9th, 2004, Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich renamed the portion of I-88 from I-80 to the portion maintained my the ISTHA the "Ronald Reagan Memorial Highway". He also sent a letter to the ISTHA asking them to re-name the East-West Tollway after the former president.
The Illinois State Toll Highway Authority Board of Directors approved changing the name of the East-West Tollway to the Ronald Reagan Memorial Tollway. I-88 is operated by the ISTHA from U.S. Rt. 30, near Rock Falls, to I-290, at Hillside.
