U.S. Federal Route 20 is a east-west highway across Central Stephenson County. This highway has by-passed the Freeport Area. The by-pass is being up-graded to four-lanes. As of June, 2005, it is a four-lane highway from east of Freeport to the Stephenson/Winnebago County Line.
