This is the portion of Old 66 that has the "Historical" signs posted on it. There is a banner below the signs indicating that it is the "1930-1940" route. This runs along the signed Business Loop Interstate 55. We'll runs this from the south to the north...
Lincoln
This starts at Lincoln Parkway and Fifth Street. It runs with BUSN Loop I-55 east.
Looking east along NB Rt. 66 (1930-40).
Several blocks east of Lincoln Parkway is the Poastville Courthouse. This is a replica of the original building from 1841. The orignial courthouse is at Henry Fords Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan.
The Postville Courthouse
A few blocks east of the courthouse, the old highway turns to the north. Here it passes along the westside of Downtown Lincoln. This is worth a side trip. Here you'll find the Lincoln Train Station. This is where Abraham Lincoln christened the town with the juice from a watermelon. Just past the train staion is the Logan County Courthouse.

North of the downtown area Rt. 66 briefly jogs to the east on IL St Rt 10/121. At Kickapoo Street it heads north.

Shortly ahead of the picture above, to the left you'll be able to see the 1940-1977 alignment of Rt. 66. It is very easy to spot, it's the four lane highway. This alignment becomes a service road to the newer vesion of the highway. This ends in a "T" intersection with the main alignment of Rt. 66.
