CHEVELLE-ABRATION FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
This information is only intended for non-ACES members. Active ACES members will have full
event information in their bi-monthly "Chevelle World" magazine, thus already knowing the
answers to the questions below.
What is this Chevelle-abration thing I keep hearing about?
Chevelle-abration is the biggest All Chevelle Show in the country. It is hosted by the American Chevelle Enthusiast Society's ( ACES for short ) in conjunction with the local Mid-South Chevelle Club in Tennessee.
When is this show and where is it held?
The show is June 7, 8, 9. It is held at Moss Wright Park in Goodlettsville, TN. About 20 miles outside of Nashville, TN.
Can anybody come to the show, or do you have to be a member of ACES?
The show is open to the public at no cost. If you want to bring your Chevelle and have it displayed on the Show Field then you have to be an active ACES member.
I'm not an ACES member, how do I join?
Just click here and get all the information you need on becoming an ACES member.
Can I join ACES at the show?
Yes, you can become an ACES member( $40.00 ) at the show, but you can't register to have your car in the show while at the event itself. Show car registration is limited to 400 cars and this is by pre-registration only. There is no limit to the amount of people who can register for the show, just the number of cars on the show field is limited to 400.
Why would I want to register for the show if I am not bringing a Chevelle?
Registering for the show allows you to take part in all Show activities whether you have a Chevelle or not. Things like the Tire Changing Contest, Tug Of War, Die Cast Car Racing, Slow Drags, a huge Southern BBQ dinner, Goody bag which includes an event T-shirt, door prize tickets ( Nice door prizes too) and the grand daddy of them all…… a Chance to win the Engine ( size??) that will be chanced off at the BBQ dinner!! Sounds like plenty of reason to register.
I just heard about this, is it too late to join ACES and still get registered for the show?
It's never too late to join ACES!! As for being too late to register for the show….it depends on how close it is to the show deadline in March and whether the 400 car limit has been met. You can call the ACES HOT Line # any evening from ( times) and find out if there is still spaces available.
I can't make it for the whole show, so what is the best day to get there and have the most fun?
Thursday is usually a slow day with cars just starting to arrive and get parked and signed in. Friday sees the majority of cars on the show field and plenty of activities going on through out the day and even a cruise to Music City Raceway for some heart stopping, blood pumping racing down the 1/8 mile track….and Saturday sees some of the same, with all registered cars on the show field, family activities and contests, and the BBQ and awards ceremony followed by huge All Chevelle Cruise! Sunday is a day to pack it away and hit the highway. You decide.
I've heard some real nice cars come to this event, I don't think my car is nice enough to put in the show…..will I get laughed at?
Some of the finest Chevelles in the country do come to this event, that is a fact! However, Chevelle-abration is not a cut-throat point judged show…..it's a family event, with old friends and new friends getting together for fun, sun, and good old fashion BS ing. There are Chevelles of all type here., from Bone Stock, highly detailed cars, to Super Modified Race cars, to daily drivers and original Survivors!! There's room for everyone. The only laughing that goes on here is from all the fun that is going on.
What is Moss Wright Park like, what should I expect?
Moss Wright Park is a community park. So that means the show cars are on grass, plenty of trailer parking, and lots of nice shade trees to block out that hot Tennessee sun! That also means there are families there, lots of baseball games going on throughout the day ( far away from the show cars), and children coming and going. So respect to the community is a Must, no horseplay with the cars, no coolers full of beer behind the car, and no pets on the show-field. There is also plenty of swap meet area and parts vendors on hand…oh and good food too!!
So how do the cars get judged?
The cars are judged by the owners themselves, every registered participant gets a ballot and chooses his/hers top three cars in each class. There are no 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place winners….just top three in each class. Makes for a real laid back atmosphere without the high tension that goes with a point judged show.
What are the chances that Chevelle-abration will come to the west coast, or the northeast, or anywhere else besides Tennessee in the coming years?
Chevelle-abration will continue to be held in Goodlettsville, TN for as long as they will have us. The first annual show was held in 199?? With xyz number of cars showing up, and every year since then, it has grown in size and quality. Last year saw 350 + Chevelles on the showfield, so we think it can only get better. There are several ACES regional events that go on throughout the year across the country…join ACES and read all about these great regional events near you!
