Grundy County Highway C30 use to run through the Coal City Metro Area. Starting at Illinois State Route 113 on the west end of Coal City, GCH C30 headed north 1 mile, on Carbon Hill Road, to Mc Cadel Road, at Carbon Hill. Here, GCH C30 turned east and headed through Carbon Hill to Coal City before ending at GCH V38 (Dresden Road), on the east side of Coal City. The strech from Carbon Hill east, was turned over to the Village of Coal City. The strech that runs east-west through Carbon Hill was turned over to the Village of Carbon Hill.
