EUROPE TRIP 2002

All of our saving was worth it. We bought our airline tickets in spring and we departed for London, England July 2, 2002. Our trip would take us to 6 (7 if you count a short stop in Switzerland) countries in 3 weeks.

We started in London. Krista and Graham lived in London for a year so they had some contacts and a place for us to stay. From there we were off to Paris, Milan, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Brussels. Then back to London for a few days before heading home.

We did the backpacking thing and it wasn't what I expected. First of all backpacks suck. Packing is an art form that some of us got better at and some didn't. Plus once you have backpacked once you become more discerning about what you look for in a pack. Compartments are key.

Anyway, you never really carry your backpack, with the exception of the first day in each location. Once you find some place to stay they usually let you drop your pack until you check in. When we weighed our packs at the airport we were each carrying about 30 pounds. This should explain why most of you didn't get souveniers.

Hope you enjoy looking at the pictures. There are of course tonnes more both digital and film. You will have to stop by to check them out.
