Diane Warren
Tribal Affiliation: Lakota Sioux
A Statement from Diane:
"My name is Diane Warren and i am sixth generation Lakota Sioux. when my mother was eight years old, she lost the path to our heritage when she was forced into foster care. I never had the opportunity to learn about my Native American Heritage.
Since I have been involved with Red Nations & Friends Native American Student Club, i began to interact with Native Americans from numerous tribes throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. This has been very beneficial for me to learn more about myself and other tribes.
As a new member (my second semester), I have had the opportunity to promote community awareness about Native American Culture. I help organize our 5th Annual Powwow at Modesto Junior College and led a grand opening speech for Billy Mills, the 1964 Olympic Gold Medallist and Keynote Speaker. Our club is currently organizing fundraisers for our 6th Annual Powwow.
Red Nations and Friends has taught me how to foster teamwork, improve my leadership skills and increased my self-esteem.
My goal as the President of Red Nations & Friends is to continue to learn and educate all people about the Native American Heritage in our community."
Pilamaya,
Diane Warren
