This day was the culmination of alot of preparation that had been carried out before hand.
Preparation of the kai for the powhiri
The whanau were on hand to prepare the meal after the powhiri. We can see Albert Gardiner, Marshall MacDonald getting the watercress ready for the pot. Kingi Gilbert, Joseph Ruruku with his back to the camera.

Rita Gray, Hinga Gardiner and Isabelle Ransfield were on hand to karanga our manuhiri onto the marae.

We also had our kaumatua present. In this photo we have Te Mako Orzecki, his great uncle Uncle Noel Gardiner and Horace Cook. Te Kira Riaka also spoke on the paepae.
