DECKLID POSITRACTION DECAL
When considering the date of the original decal (1958) I can only assume this was used on
numerous Chevrolet models - Full Size, Chevelle and Camaro for sure. Not sure about Novas.
I have seen two or three different reproductions available these days. None of them have
the correct fonts as per the original. There are a few NOS ones floating around.
There is also a product available which I believe is simply a photocopy of an original.
This was certainly my most challenging project to date. The original fonts are not at all
commonly used. I was able to source these fonts from a Graphic Artist I know. Individual word
and line spacing is also not symmetrical. On the original the large "A's" are a totally different font
and two of the "periods" are larger than the other two. The early feedback received from
fussy hobbyists has been very good. The only thing not exact on my product
is the underline which is a little thicker.
Another item which may not be noticeable to everyone, but it sure was to me, is the bottom line
with the small print. The font on the repro is not at all close. Furthermore, the original had these
words "outside" the borders of the main printing on both the left and right sides, the repro does not.
Thanks to fellow enthusiasts Rick and Dennis for their input on this project.
