Phuket.... I met my wife in that paradise 4 years ago. So of course there had to be a Phuket section on my page. Those of you who have been there allready understand or sometimes misunderstand the beauty and the kindness of the island. Those who have not been there yet, well...pack your things and get on that plane. You won't regred it.
Located in the sparkling, green waters of the Andaman Sea just 70 minutes flying time south of Bangkok, Thailand's most popular beach destination has everything you could possibly want on a holiday: beautiful beaches, some of the finest resort hotels, watersports, exquisite seafood, international and Thai cuisine, mountains, forests, temples, coral reefs, turquoise seas and tropical sunshine - all in plentiful proportions. Whether you are looking for a quiet corner to enjoy a romantic retreat or an action packed time with plenty of colourful night life, Phuket has it all.
In general Thailand has so much to offer. For many people it's one of the most beautiful and amazing countries in the world. Check it out!
Where To Stay?
The island is loaded with great hotels and accommodations for everyone's budget. So finding a place to stay shouldn't be much of a problem. I can highly recommend the following:
How To Get Around?
Tuk - tuks - a4- wheeled variety - operate in all the beach centres and - depending upon bargaining skills - will charge from 7 to 300 Baht (Thai currency) depending on the distance. Open air buses are much cheaper but do not go from beach to beach. Their routes go from the beach to Phuket Town and back for 20 Baht each.
A more flexible way would be to hire a car or Suzuki jeep. Most of the vehicles on offer at the road side in Patong are often not insured and, since vehicles in Thailand are heavily taxed, replacing one you damage will be expensive.
Motorcycles are also easily available for hire, but with the accident statistics in Phuket as high as they are, beware before you dare. Insurance is also not available.
