Pat Torpey
Pat Torpey was born on December 13, 1962 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was interested in drums since he saw one of his relatives playing drums when he was seven. He was so fond of this instrument that he always asked his father to buy one for him.
His wish was answered when he was given a pair of drumsticks at the age
of 10 and a second-handed Ludwig drums at 14. He learned to play it on his own.
In a second year in high school, he went for the audition for a school band. Unfortunately, he was not chosen because they required more skills on him. Then Torpey started to pratice it seriously and properly. He was also interested in jazz music.
After leaving high school, he worked as a bricklayer to be able to buy a car and a drumset. He
played in the band that covered Top 40 songs and used to tour the US and Canada.
Then he felt like to set up his own band that played their own music. Moving to LA., Pat formed a quartet band "Exposure" with Jim Black (now becomes a famous producer), Jim Black (Tina Turner and Heart's songwriter) and Chuck Wright, the bassist of Giuffria, Quiet Riot, Imellitteri, Blacthorne. However, the band didn't work out far enough to get the record deal.
Torpey turned to be a session drummer for Robert Plant and Belinda Calisle. He also worked with Jeff Paris, Stand Bush, Ted Nugent and Impellitteri. He's a real experienced and talented drummer.
Pat has released two solo albums now...."Odd man out" and "Y2K" great job Pat.
