My 1986 Camaro....

My third Camaro experience began on November 12, 1985 when I took delivery of a new 1986 Camaro Sport Coupe from Davis Chevrolet in Lexington, NC. It was my first new car, and it had all of 64 miles on the odometer when I first got behind the wheel. I ordered it with automatic transmission, power windows and locks, Extended Range Sound, Custom Cloth interior (W/ Quiet Sound Group), and T-Tops. I'm also quite ashamed to admit that this car was powered by the notoriously anemic 2.8 Liter Multi Port Fuel Injected V-6 (meaning that the car couldn't get out of it's own way). General Motors workmanship was also extremely shoddy during the mid 80's, and this car was a testimony to that sad fact. Mechanical and electrical problems were numerous, and the vehicle was also on the receiving end of at least three violent collisions caused by insensitive boneheads who apparently didn't know that I DO in fact own the street! The pictures below show the car as it appeared in 1988, during my junior year at college. This vehicle was sold to a young man from Alabama in late spring of 1990, resulting in a ten year sabbatical from the Camaro driving experience.

A pretty good front angle shot (if I do say so myself!)....

The 86' model was a beautiful car, but whoever O.K.'d that butt ugly black cowpie known as the third brake light should be dragged out into the street and shot....

This car had a gorgeous interior....
