GIG NUMBER TWENTY-SIX
Who
The only Lupine Howl song I'd learnt beforehand was The Jam That Ate Itself, which was quite excellent. Apart from this we were treated to a very atmospheric and professional set with much pretty lighting and nice hair, although only a few of the songs really stood out. It seemed like they could have been the perfect festival band, requiring a much larger stage than what they got. Decent although not great, keeping up the (now very) indie theme of the time, but nothing to change my life.

Comments
With their Spiritualized connections, it seemed safe to presume that Lupine Howl were a good choice for a low-key gig. Echoboy opened the night with an utterly pointless improvised show (it really was made up as they went along). It was basically a soundcheck (like Mogwai) and without any coherent form whatsoever. Not offensive, merely a total waste of everyone's time. They had done very well supporting Elastica, but it seems line-up changes have now doomed them to obscurity.
